my 2017 does this
at first I thought it was spilled oil since the dealer grease monkey was slinging it around on my free oil change the day before.

Does it anytime you floor it on an on-ramp etc.. sometimes you wont smell it but if it wafts into the car it is Very stinky.
yes, my 2017 v6 summit has a burnt sell when I get on expressway and floor it for 3 to 6 seconds. We noticed this immediately ...everyone in the car. The summit has 6,500 miles on it and just went thru a new car check out at the dealer.
i have only driven it twice since i got it. Will call the dealer tomorrow and see if I should bring it in. Best answer I saw above was the car may be going into some "mode" when full acceleration is performed. Would love a tech to chime in...We got this to pull with the RV and to be a daily driver.
Thanks

Actually it might be a slightly dragging brake pad. The faster you go the more friction generated.

The only time in 5 years I got a burning smell was when I was pulling my boat and a Beaver tried to cross the 2 lane road in front of me.
4 hot brakes do smell the car up but the beaver survived...………. and that was important to me.

Not to be unnecessarily argumentative.. but mine did it every time it was floored.. every time.(mostly highway on ramps)

.. its totally normal and not a brake pad.

I got on my TH V6 hard the other day, and sure enough I smelled it, too. One of the first replies here mentioned a Chrysler 200 doing it, too. I've never had a car with a mesh style exhaust pipe connector. I am curious if under full throttle, is there enough back pressure in the exhaust to cause some of it to pass through that flexible mesh? I am curious if the 200 has a mesh connector, too.

Dealer gave me some idea of what it could be and service bulletin

I have the same problem as described: Light Burning smell in cabin after hard acceleration, for a few minutes as dissipates.

Dealer gave me a service bulletin from STAR, case S1723000036.

Body Exhauster under rear passenger quarter panel. "Purpose of the body exhauster is to relieve pressure build up in the vehicle while driving and or operating the HVAC. They also allow control of fresh air through the cabin to keep passengers comfortable with fresh air when recirc is not desired. If the flaps are not sealing this could allow exhaust fumes to enter the cabin."

I think that the flaps open when we accelerate for a split second and lets burning smell from the pipe into the cabin.

Of course you could have bent flaps, but then you would probably always have the smell in the cabin.

Dealer said "that is just how these jeeps are, we have test driven newer GR Cherokees and they do the same thing..."

Would be nice if Jeep fixed it, i feel like i am being poisoned while driving- class action?!

owns 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
Somewhere on this site there is a post about rodents getting into the Jeep through the exhauster flap openings.
Check the flaps to see if they are warped, or chewed, or for some reason not closing completely.
Since I have a 2014 I have the old PN. My exhausters seem to be ok.
I am wondering if it is beneficial to put in the new PN exhausters if I don't have a problem.
The STAR case seems to be for distorted flaps. They are flexible rubber so anything is possible.

I'm wondering how difficult it is to pull that panel and check. So, how do these work? They're not mechanical I would assume. When the door closes the pressure escapes through this vent and once the pressure stabilizes (split second) they close again just by gravity on the rubber flaps?

I have a 2017 Trailhawk and I'm experiencing the samething. It smells like burning hair. Mine does it when I pull a trailer or go faster than 65.

This was common on my 2.4 Sport whenever I hit the throttle hard for passing etc: I always thought it smelled of burnt transmission fluid. Went away after a few minutes. Never had it checked out as I traded it for my Trail Hawk but I have experienced it.

One thing you never mentioned is what it smelled like. Oil, Transmission fluid, plastic, rubber etc: Might help with a diagnosis.

In my experience, the smell comes from the engine bay so I doubt it is from the body exhaust in the back of the vehicle. It smells exactly like burnt rubber. Some people say it could be a bad pulley, a cracked or misaligned belt, or even a bad alternator or compressor putting extra resistance on the belt. I just replaced my compressor, pulleys and belt and it smells as burnt rubber when I floor it. My guess is, maybe the pulleys can't keep up with the acceleration creating friction on the belt.

Ya, that's definitely not normal...😎

One on each side. Pull out both plastic cubbies, storage baskets, and you can see the exhauster.
They are identical.
They are not filters. Just open outward to let air pressure escape, then gravity closes them again.
If they don't close then that is when the smell can enter the vehicle.
They pull out easily so you can inspect their operation.

You are correct, 68260545AA is the new part.
Confirmed by checking moparonlineparts.com, they show the supersession.
The new part number may be an improvement or it could just be a different supplier, never have figured out the Mopar part number system.
Now I see, you are referring to Post #26 above.
Are your current exhausters ok? If they don't close properly that could be the source of your smell.
Have you discovered the source of the smell? I am still just making guesses.
Let us know what you learn, this is getting interesting.

All I know is that if accelerate hard after few seconds I start to have hard smell inside the car. I am not sure what it is, many forums talk about oil leak, but now I that become more familiar with the smell I think it is the exhaust smell.

You might want to inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
Especially the front flex pipe, known problem, when you accelerate there is a lot more back pressure, a lot more exhaust to escape.
It is really good quality steel so I doubt that it has any rust holes.
So your exhaust system should be ok unless you damaged it off road somehow.
Are you driving with the windows open when you notice the smell?

Did you ever figure out ? Having same issues smells like fireworks to me a eggy smell almost like the battery but not as strong and battery under passenger seat on mine 🥴 thing some kinda fule Residue that is left over from just a medium cruise and win hard acceleration getting burnt 🥴 idk
