Never had this problem with any vehicle.
Close all of the vents and/or use recirculate mode to see if the smell is coming through the vents.
Possibly a dirty cabin filter?
Check fluid levels and try to determine if something is burning.
If the oil filter housing is cracked and leaking oil it may be getting onto an exhaust manifold or catalytic converter.
The transmission cooler line fittings forward of the radiator have leaked on some Cherokees.
If a brake pad is dragging it could overheat.
Try to identify what kind of fluid is causing the smell.
Engine coolant and engine oil will have different odors.

Definitely not cab filter as I've replaced that. I don't believe it's burnt coolant, doesn't smell like it. Engine oil doesn't go down at all so I wouldn't suspect engine oil. I'll crawl under and try to see if anything is leaking

I have noticed an exhaust smell after doing a full throttle acceleration onto the highway. Goes away at cruising speed. Don't notice it any other time. Checked for exhaust leaks, none found.

This was common on my 2.4 Sport whenever I hit the throttle hard for passing etc: I always thought it smelled of burnt transmission fluid. Went away after a few minutes. Never had it checked out as I traded it for my Trail Hawk but I have experienced it.

One thing you never mentioned is what it smelled like. Oil, Transmission fluid, plastic, rubber etc: Might help with a diagnosis.

I'm not 100% sure cause the smell is kind of distant and goes away so quickly. I wanna say it doesn't smell like any type of fluid. If it was coolant or ATF I'd know right away.

I took it into some mud today for a while and stepped on it a few times and didn't seem to smell anything this time around.

Yeah my engine bay is totally spotless. I really don't think it's any burning fluid otherwise I'd know. Please let me know what they find!

If you are hitting the throttle hard, you may be going into Power Enrichment mode. Not quite as bad as open loop, but the priority is on (you guessed it) power; dumping a lot fuel instead of fuel economy and emissions. You could be smelling unburnt fuel in the exhaust.

Yes! My 2014 V6 does the same thing, exactly as you describe. I think @Rojhan's comment makes the most sense. It's never caused a problem with mine, either, as far as fluid consumption, oil in engine bay/air filter, etc.

my 2017 does this
at first I thought it was spilled oil since the dealer grease monkey was slinging it around on my free oil change the day before.

Does it anytime you floor it on an on-ramp etc.. sometimes you wont smell it but if it wafts into the car it is Very stinky.
