Did you ever figure out ? Having same issues smells like fireworks to me a eggy smell almost like the battery but not as strong and battery under passenger seat on mine 🥴 thing some kinda fule Residue that is left over from just a medium cruise and win hard acceleration getting burnt 🥴 idk

Don't know what year you have but an eggy smell or sulfur smell usually indicates a cat going bad. Any check engine lights on ? After you've been driving for a while car warmed up if you park and leave the car idling can you smell the sulfur smell if you walk around to the back of the car?

Overcharging batteries can smell like that too, but I wouldn't expect you'd be able to smell it from a sealed AGM, unless the case cracked from freezing or something...

Update. Had a smell of smoke when I accelerate.
Bought two (one each side) 68260545aa
Lay below the back of the car, reached with my hand, can't see but can feel it, pushed it a bit to the top and wiggled it out.

Installed the new ones, pushed and tapped the cornets to get the clips to hold, and that's it.
No smell of smoke anymore.

Check..

1. Exhaust. As @sanghill mentioned, the flex pipes tend to rust away first. Does it smell like exhaust or you hear a louder exhaust than normal

2. Oil. If you have the V6 engine there are two general places this can occur:

a. The oil cooler has sprung a leak and oil is dripping down down the transaxle case on the driver's side onto the exhaust pipe below.​

b. You have a leak on the rubber valve cover seal (bank 1 nearest the firewall). A leak there can run down either on the bank 1 cat. or exhaust pipe.​

Awesome. You must have been picking up tailpipe exhaust through the equalization vents.

they aren't identical. meaning the originals don't have flaps?
