Seeing
@Gary Kline 's post above there have been a few changes this week that leads into my long question below for a 2014 Canadian Cherokee.
There was little to no issue until this Cherokee came south. It has been maintained and all recalls and updates (except the May 11 2023 49A which looks like a repeat of the R27 in 2015) at the dealerships in Alberta and BC. If it has/had issues with the backup camera it was not noticed as most of northern BC and Alberta had it covered in mud/dirt/snow most of the time.
I have read through many forums and threads regarding Uconnect and the 2019 update that is only for Canada and Mexico, which I have also confirmed during 3 separate phone call transfers, one from UConnect Canada, and twice from FCA to the USA UConnect support offices that it does not exist in the USA system.
This week we have the forced disabling of the UConnect app to use the branded Jeep app that started the saga as the Jeep app has no UConnect settings and devices are now having problems connecting to the Jeep. I figured if I needed to update the system I might as well update the maps since the ones in the system are from 2013 and about half of Vancouver and the lower mainland is incorrect (roads do not exist or have been blocked/rerouted).
So you go to the UConnect Canada website, find that maps are available, it says you need to check your VIN for software updates and the site sends you to the USA Uconnect site (which does not have the update in its database because it does not affect USA vehicles). Ok, go to a local dealer, they run a check on the same website and it says no update because it is checking from the USA.
Keeping in mind that this vehicle has had multiple software updates in the ECU and transaxle, it appears to never had a UConnect update from the factory, it is still on 14.25.5 with maps from 2012 and 2013. So much for those map updates every 6 months.
Since the old VIN software search for the Canadian side of UConnect no longer exists, the dealer can not locate it, FCA says it is Uconnect Canada's problem, and UConnect Canada says it is FCA's problem, where does that leave someone who just wants their in-vehicle system to work (as the Jeep App has no UConnect settings or features) and maybe a map database from this decade.
Is there someone else to contact other than UConnect Canada, UConnect USA, FCA, HERE (the company that provides the maps if you do not have the Garmin system maps) ? There is no contact info for Stellantis on this issue unless you are in the UK.
Or do I now just keep phoning dealerships until I find one who knows about this issue?
