Finished the 18.45.01 USB update, took about 20min. Last update was 3yrs ago, OTA, I had 16.16.13, did not do the 17.43.01 last year (my build date was 3-14-14). Thing is, never got an email about this update (or 17.43.01), or an onboard warning like I did when I needed to do the OTA 3yrs ago. At least my Jeep knows where it is now, although the colors on the map are just grey now, hoping over time the map colors will re-appear, didn't see anything in settings to change map colors. But at least the NAV seems to be working.

How do I select an older version such as 17.43.01?

Also, has anyone tried to update to the newest version directly from a very old version like 16.16.13?
They yanked all the 17.43.01 updates when they put up 18.45.01. No idea why, but the files arent even up on the server anymore.

I downloaded 17.43.01 off the site, but dont have anywhere to host it. There is a (long) thread on RAMForum where someone has all of the firmware versions hosted for different model year and radio part numbers. 17.43.01 was somewhat model and year specific, so you would need just the right one.

I think someone on RAMForum also went from a fairly old version (that wasnt even listed on the chart in the instructions) right to 18.45.01, successfully. Personally I would go to 17.43.01 first, but I still dont know what they mean by "if this version then call dealer" in that table. Hopefully its just a matter of having them get you the 17.43.01 update first.

As I had mentioned, I never received the OTA update.

It seems that I'd have to go through more gyrations than I'd like to, in order to download the newest version.

With that said,,... At present, my Uconnect head unit is working just fine. No issues with the clock, navigation or any of the other features. What's that old saying?? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

I'll just stay with my 16.16.13

11-19 update screwed things up

I got two updates in the last few days. After the first, the clock would not set to the correct time and a message "not currently subscribed to voice texting". After a couple hours it all started working. Well, the next day another "update" notification and it's been three days and still the clock is off and Uconnect says "no active subscription". I tried to go to website and of course it is not working. What the **** is up with Jeep and their customer support!!!

Hi. I would be happy to look into this for you. If you'd like, please send us your VIN, email, phone number, and mileage to get started.

So, I take the car to Jeep, as instructed by UConnect because I could not download the update (see earlier post). Dealer has the car about 90 mins. All fixed! All updated to latest software. Cool, great, right? I get in the car, check the software and see....17,43.01. Are you kidding me? That’s what I came in with! BUT now the Nav is working fine,as far as I can tell. I’ll take it back when it screws up, which I’m sure is only a matter of time.

I, and UConnect, have no clue what’s going on. I do know my buddy’s Ford had no issues, either did my other buddy’s Chevy. Of course the neighbors Audi was flawless. UConnect needs to get on the stick or FCA is going to start losing customers over a screwed up system and HORRIFIC customer service....

If it doesn't screw up in a day or two, look at your clock settings and see if the dealer disabled "Sync time with GPS". That's what Uconnect wanted me to do to "work around" the problem. I told them no, I wanted the software fix. I had to continue to push them and ask for escalations until finally they made the 18.45.01 software available for me to download.

I have to agree with the horrific customer service comment. Those people have no reasoning skills whatsoever, and if you ask them something that's not in their support script, they are completely lost and just start making stuff up to get you off the phone.

Checked sync time before I left the dealer lot, it is checked on and time is correct....
Wait and see I guess

I totally get if you dont trust the source, but we have the 18.45.01 files hosted in post #3 here (read the first 5 posts for a good idea of whats going on):

https://www.ramforum.com/threads/ro...info-fota-18-11-x-uc-d-l-18-45-01-sw-update-13-17-ra3-vp3-na-ra4-vp4-na.150150/

Multiple people (including myself) have used the files. We also confirmed the file hashes are correct with people that were actually able to download the update from the UConnect site. Note that this update is not model year specific (which is a first for UConnect). You only need one file for RA3 (nav activated after purchase) or RA4 (nav enabled from factory).

It seems there are still VINs out there that UConnect is convinced do not need the update. Even the donor truck VIN I got my RA4 from still shows "up to date" on Uconnects website. How they associate "up to date" with an actual VIN is still a mystery to me, but based on how inaccurate it seems, my guess is its pretty manual.

As far as the GPS working, so far it seems like it may work for a day or two after a reset, then stop working, then maybe lock back on again. Almost like its temporarily inaccurate. But that stinks because Murphy says when you need it, it will be an "inaccurate" day.

The last update I got was last year (17.43....) I believe. It was OTA and took forever to download as I live in a very spotty area for their cell service provider.
Finally got it installed after weeks...... from the initial notice to OK the download.

This last one 18.45 .... actually commenced weeks ago and that's where its at.

This week I took the Cherokee in for the latest recall. They did the recall (TCM update) and a proximity adjustment. I assume the proximity had to do with the GPS.
I still had the old U-connect software (17.43.....) so I downloaded the update after keying in my VIN number. Installed the update and all is well. Really noticed no difference except maybe the vehicle tracking on the map is better.

I just hope that they make ALL the updates available online as the OTA does not work well in my area. I am in and out of the service area and that is noway to download anything.

I successfully updated from uConnect v17.11.17 to v18.45.01 using the FCA mailer disposable USB. I followed the enclosed instructions and it worked like a charm. Kept the KL running in a parking lot the entire time (25-30 mins) while waiting for a deep dish pizza to cook. Make sure you leave it on after it looks like it's finished and let it reboot itself. It then takes a few extra minutes to verify the new version - a prompt will appear asking if you want to reinstall. Tapped no. Then I turned off the key and left the vehicle sit about 15 extra minutes before driving home. No issues so far (fingers crossed).
