This is what I have over winch fairlead,

This light is SAE J575 for shock and durability testing and not light pattern compliance for on street use. This is why the product page continues to reference "off road use only".

The SAE compliance for road legal lighting is:
  • SAE J583: for fog lamps
  • SAE J581: for auxiliary lighting that supplements high beams only
  • SAE J582: for rear fog lamps
  • SAE J571 & FMVSS 108: which is both the technical & legal standards for other automotive lighting like low-beams.
Compare to this Rigid product:

The title contains "SAE" for their SAE line, where the description states "SAE J581 Compliant Street Legal Auxiliary High Beam LED Light" along with "Legal For On Road and Off Road Use"

Not sure if your foot dimmer switch shuts that off completely or dims it for oncoming traffic.

I went with the driving beam pattern, my mistake. I know it said something about SAE.
Foot dimmer switch kills the light as needed for on coming traffic. Got tired of reaching overhead for rocker switch.

That being said, I occasionally hit my non-SAE compliant off road lights at left lane campers after a few miles of patience then high beam flashes 😂

Isn't that every company? No profits no company. The only thing you can do is research the company and go from there. I've own several Jeeps and knew what I was getting into. Sorry for those that didn't have the far sight to see that Jeep has never been that great. The joy of a capitalist country. But I do hear you, listen to your customers. At the same time Toyota and Honda (all manufactures lately) have been having engine and tranny problems. If its man made it will fail, some sooner then later.
I agree everyone is going to have trouble at some point with their product. The article was just saying that was the key problem with Jeep and their unwillingness to address the issues that have arose. Plus the base price of some of there lines starting at $50k for a basic model!!! I’ve had a few jeeps myself and my kid has 3 currently “ older models” so we get it.

WOW!! $432 for a light bar???? Better be able to roast hot dogs with that thing. Sorry but there's no justification, in my opinion, for a light bar to cost so much. That screams to me of "Let's gouge the fanatics while we can and for as long as we can get away with it!". That's close to 10 full tank gas fill ups at approx. $45 each.

cycling lights are like that too. I've managed to find the less expensive units that still provide great light output. sometimes making my own hoods & adding diff. lenses to change/control a beam pattern. & clearly we don't all have the same budget. when I got my 1st Cherokee I was financially lucky. not sure how long my luck will hold out tho. currently driving the bottom of the barrel, a '14 sport (ewww) & trying to avoid duct tape & glue :ROFLMAO:

but I like flechtight's setup. that thin light bar looks great & fits right in w/ his whole front end

I like it, too....but, like I said, there's no justification for a simple lightbar to cost so much....
this thing really rocks. I slap it on the hood. would love it if they have an SAE driving light / fog light whatever, in a tiny slim version that I could mount on the bumper w/ the cheap bracket I bought. but on mine I think a 2-light setup would look better

but this is super inexpensive & super useful. I had to swap out the magnets for suction cups

Nilight LED Light Bar 13.5 Inch Triple Row $63.

did I already share this? I'm getting forgetful

With quality lighting, you definitely get what you pay for. There's a huge difference between the cheap ones, and the good ones. There's a difference in build quality, performance, optics, toughness, and everything else. I don't have any extra lighting on my Trailhawk, but I do have some money in lighting on my Can Ams. That's a $1500 lightbar, and $430 pods x6. Plus a $1500 rear chase light bar, and a $350 10' rear reverse lightbar. All Baja Design lighting. You can mount their stuff on a submarine...When you're running like 90mph flat out across the desert at night, you need quality lighting, and as much as you can get...Trust me...💰😁😉😎

Justification 🤔…. I’m not familiar with that concept, is it cheaper?

Like everything else in a build, it’s personal preference, stay in your budget and you’ll be happy.

That said, there are huge number of manufactures in the game now that can cover the same scenario for a much better price.

The 10” single row, bumper mounted light bar, gets used 80 percent more than any other set up on my rig except the Rigid scene lights on the side of the Gobi

Key to the front bumper mounted is to get it mounted to something structural like @maxfinch did.

Oh for sure, Jeep was/is on crack with their pricing. I want to pickup (pun intended) a Gladiator to complement my Trailhawk, but not at those prices.

Hello everyone hope you all had a great holiday season. I got a light bar for Christmas for my Jeep but have run into a mounting problem now. Was going to use the license plate bracket to do it but that’s a no go. So figured I’d remove it and use the already made hole’s but they don’t line up. Plus I’m now wondering if them holes would even support the weight of the mount and light. So if anyone can help me with this issue I’d appreciate it. I’ve included a pic of the setup I’m using.
any luck?

in 2003 I got a cpl utility lights to mount on the back of my 4runner for camping, but never put them on. recently got a cheap bracket from amazon to play with. wasn't sure what light or lights to get, but just remembered the lights in the basement from 22 yrs ago. screwed them on & duct taped it to my license plate & bumper as a mock up. still haven't decided what if any lights I would get. it would be cool if the lens was slightly tinted, to blend w/ the front end more, in daytime, when they were not on

Are you thinking street legal, or real lights for offroad??? Figure that out, and I'll point you in the right direction, without spending a fortune...😉😁

street legal SAE DOT. was thinking "driving" only to be used w/ high beams

cuz I have those suction cup off road lights if I ever do that again. but I drive lonely highways in the dark a lot, so that's where I see an opportunity
