Do the 19's still have adjusters at the front corners under the hood, should be close to the DRL's.

They were screwed out TOO FAR on our 16 causing the hood to be TOO high at the front corners.
Maybe you need to try adjusting them out to support the hood.

I just screwed mine out more, as I could easily push
down on the hood in the corners. Going to see if it
works. Also now the adjusters sit about 1" high...

My 2019 Cherokee had the same issue. Hood was bouncing up and down on the highway. Brought it back to the dealer and they adjusted it. So far so good, but having other issues with the Jeep. Unhappy customer here.

The 2019 rear hatch is composite, not metal as before. AFAIK the hood hasn’t changed. The hood myth began by very poor journalism where the reporters stated that the “new” aluminum hood was part of the 150 weight reduction between the 2018 and 2019. It wasn’t.

I was told by a salesman when I mentioned that the hood was advertised as aluminum on the 2019 and I thought they had been in all of the previous years. He responded that they are now lighter on the 2019s but I am sure you could probably check this out to make sure.

...and the 2014 - 2019 Cherokee has aluminum hoods. Most news reports (some very misleading) say the 2019 has "a new lightweight aluminum hood". Can't argue with that. Mine visibly shook on the highway on the way home from the dealership. I may or may not have let out a loud 4-letter word.

After reading through the forum, playing with/tweaking the adjustable support screws under the hood solved my problem. Once you realize that they're adjustable for a reason, it makes sense. Not all adjustable screws will be protruding at the same length when you have the right fit - it's kind of a custom thing.

My 2019 Limited does the same thing. On a recent trip while driving 70 mph>, it looks as though the hood is going to fly off. I am taking the car in for service on Wednesday so hopefully they can adjust the latch and or stops.

I have a 2019 Overland also and the hood does the same thing. I have taken it back 2 times and they can't seem to fix it. It sets off the sensor for the hood release. Thought that the hood was going to fly off last weekend when we had 60 mph winds.

its the hard stops for the hood on top.
adj up to a full turn out to keep the hood from doing this.
my 19 TH did this and this is what I've done.

When your hood is closed;
Push on the front bumper by the grill. On the passenger side and on the driver side. If the hood is moving/there is play between the hood and its bumper stops this will make your hood feel like its going to open while your driving.

I just had a similar experience when I had my vehicle returned from a windshield replacement. The hood was not aligned properly when they re-installed it, the bumper stops for the hood were not doing anything. I also had some minor rubbing occurring.

To resolve bring it to the dealership. Or just back off the bolts on the hood (just a enough for movement), close the hood, align it as best you can, carefully open the hood, and then re torque the nuts, and adjust the bumper stops until there is no play and it sits nice and flush with the fender panels.

My 2cents.

Thanks guys, I have the same issue. In my case the ESS light came on when an oncoming semi caused a wind blast against my hood. I opened and closed the hood and no more issues but the the hood shakes a lot at highway speed. I will try to adjust but I think my dealer will need to fix this.

Adjust, but if you over-adjust you might take it off completely. If you take it off completely you might drop it in the engine compartment. If you drop it in the engine compartment you might not ever see it again. If you never see it again you might have to order one online. $1.60 + shipping.

...not that I would know or anything. :blush:

Well that is interesting. Thank you for posting this. I will ask my dealer to look into as well. Did your dealer adjust the latch and or the stops as other posters have suggested?
