I have jacked off all sorts of things with mine. Used the hi lift on the front tow hooks (wouldn't recommend), jacked off the sliders (make sure parking brake is on and the jack is perfectly straight), floor jack under the lower control arms (make sure it doesn't slide), etc. I put jack stands under the main part of the sliders on the side I'm working with, or both sides if both front tires are coming off. Just depends on what you want to do. From a strength standpoint, using a 2x4 and floor jack under the middle of the skid plate is probably fine. From a safety point, don't get under it with only one lift point in the center. It can fall off to either side quite easily. You really want it sitting on at least two jack stands if you plan to lift the entire front and climb under it, or work anywhere you might could get pinned.
