Thank you so much for sharing this info with such great detail! Just wondering if I correctly understood that we're meant to keep the old, cut, strap under the new one? Or can we just remove it entirely? We've ordered the strap and plan to follow your excellent instructions.
what I've seen Gary do is replace sections
what I've seen a cpl other ppl do is add sections on top of existing sections
I believe there are 3 sections to check for corrosion

Sorry for the late reply, I was offline a couple days. I only replaced the bottom section because it's the exposed part (it gets hit with both moisture kicked up from the road as well as any spillage from filling the windshield washer bottle directly above it). However, no harm replacing the whole length if you like, you will either need a factory replacement cable (since there's a lug mid-way through the cable where it attaches to the frame) or just purchase multiple individual cables.
