Does anyone know where the evaporator drain is located? Mine might be clogged. Normally I'd just look for the water dripping out but there's none to be found.
Let us know if you find that part number. My Cherokee came with that tab busted and it's just held up with painter's tape, which works well enough. It looks like that part might be a pain to replace, though...Down side is I broke the clip on the cabin air filter door that clips to the top, I glued it back together but I know it will fall apart when I remove the door so I'll need to try and find the part number to replace it.
So stinky. Toxic mold style stinky. Dealership was no help.
8 can't speak for who you quoted, however @MarinR00 went to his dealer with the "smelly AC" issue, and they charged him $150 for two filters, and sent him in his way. This I don't understand---the part "Dealership was no help." Please explain that more fully so I can understand what the dealership told you and was no help. What the heck are they for if you come in with a problem (serious in my opinion) and they are no help.
Yup - made me angry. Here is the thread8 can't speak for who you quoted, however @MarinR00 went to his dealer with the "smelly AC" issue, and they charged him $150 for two filters, and sent him in his way.
In my opinion, that was no help.

I completely agree! I told the front man at the service desk that my air-conditioning smelled sour, and that I'm concerned that there might be mold within the system. I asked if they could verify that there is no mold growth. He said that in order to check they would have to remove the entire dashboard, which would be a lot of work, and therefore they didn't want to do it. He recommended instead that I turn off the air conditioning a few minutes before I come to a stop so that the water can drain out of the system. The most they (reluctantly) agreed to do was spray some Frigi-Fresh into the air intake. I have all of this conversation documented in case I develop some type of respiratory disease. This I don't understand---the part "Dealership was no help." Thank you! Wow, thats a hefty price for a piece of plastic. Perhaps I'll look into designing the piece myself and printing it out on my 3d printer. Down side is I'll have to try and find the time, so it might just be with it to order and be done with it. Sigh68223045AB
Pretty expensive for what it is.
There should be a group buy thread for these lol.

I swear I can't stand going into my dealership for service. From the beginning it's been as if I have to pass some kind of gauntlet in order to have them do work on my vehicle, as if they're doing me a favor. I've purchased 3 vehicles from my local Audi/Porsche/BMW dealership and contrast in service is striking.
Thanks, I do now understand.... A can of compressed air (like those for the computer/electronics) would blow it out once you get the line off. You might want to try in both directions as the drain out of the condenser might be a bit slow also.Like I said in post #14, I changed my filter only a few thousand miles ago, so it's been less than half a year. Since I did so during the colder months I didn't notice any stink until I started using the A/C again recently. I'll have to try again to remove that hose.
Actually, the fine gentleman who owned my Cherokee before me broke the tab on the housing that this piece connects to. Ha! I see that it's #11 or #13 on the diagram, but I don't know how to find those part numbers. Probably too much of a pain to replace that part anyway. :-(68223045AB

Ah... I discovered that #11 and #13 are evaporator coils. So, I have no idea which part is the housing that the filter inserts into...Actually, the fine gentleman who owned my Cherokee before me broke the tab on the housing that this piece connects to. Ha! Thanks for this, though! I'll definitely bookmark that part just in case!
Toecutter,This hose? If so, did you disconnect the rubber hose from the plastic plug or did you pop the plastic plug out of the attachment point? I wasn't able to do either way easily and want to verify before I yank harder. Any tips on how to get it to move would be appreciated.
It's just below where the cabin filter is inserted.Toecutter,
Can you describe WHERE that hose is?

Were you successful in removing the rubber coiled hose from the plastic fitting without breaking the fitting. Mine seems to be "glued" to the fitting and won't move. I don't want to break the fitting and make a bad problem worst. This hose? If so, did you disconnect the rubber hose from the plastic plug or did you pop the plastic plug out of the attachment point? I doubt that member is going to answer you, since they haven't logged on since 2019, and that post was from December 2013...Maybe someone else might be able to help though.. 😁😎Were you successful in removing the rubber coiled hose from the plastic fitting without breaking the fitting.
