There was some snow in the way and I tried on the rear locker after 30000 miles.

It seemed to take a long time to engage and disengage.

What is your experience?

Locking rear sometimes seems to be slow to engage or disengage, but is generally quick to engage for me and a little more sluggish to disengage. You need the right speed and gear for it to happen. I sometimes have to switch into neutral or rock forward/reverse to get it to disengage.

As already stated, there can be a delay. I usually put the KL in gear and move a couple inches backwards, then try again. That usually does the trick. Some times it takes even more, but I have never had it not engage or disengage.

I found that engaging/disengaging it will moving helps... and especially if you can be turning somewhat. That way the left/right wheels are rotating at different speeds so the teeth can line up together faster.

Just tried using the rear locker today. Was going really slow in 4 low.
For some reason it engaged and disengaged just fine.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, haven't figured out the magic.
Turning the steering wheel back and forth a little is supposed to help.
Hopefully someone will discover the "trick".
