Does anyone have the integrated brake controller from Mopar? I thought I saw a picture if it tucked into where the compartment is under the left dash. Is that correct?
Matman, unless they have changed recently, Mopar does not offer an integrated brake controller for the KL. I thought that was only available on the RAM trucks.

Although Mopar calls it "integrated", it's not really integrated. It's just an add-on accessory, the same as any other 3rd party brake controller. It actually looks like the Mopar one is probably just a re-branded Tekonsha.

Interesting, the disclosure statement has me curious. It mentions (2) 4-pin connectors under the dash. As far as I know the Cherokee only has 1.

Yes, going off of your pictures (thank you) I found the one connector on my Jeep last night.

I keep waffling on whether I want to buy a Tekonsha and install it myself, or just get the Mopar and have the dealer do the install. I'm just not sure where to attach it. There seems to be a limited area that it could go and not interfere with the airbag.

You could also go with a wireless system. They're pricey at around $300, but then you don't have to install anything inside the Jeep. That's what I'm planning to go with when and if I ever get an RV.

Just got back from the dealer and his book didn't show that it was available for the Cherokee but the computer did. I also asked where it is installed and the computer says "in the dash to the left of the steering column."

They are going to order it and will install it when it comes in. I'm hoping that it is going to go into the space occupied by the little storage compartment down there. That would be nice.

What does that controller have to do with an RV?
It's for controlling a towed platform behind the Cherokee.

Well, the dealer ordered the Mopar controller and I took my Jeep in to have it installed this morning. When they went to install it, it doesn't fit! The parts guy at the dealer called the parts hotline and eventually they told him that it doesn't fit the 2014 Cherokee "Our bad, I guess we have to fix the parts database"

Needless to say, we are supposed to go camping on Thursday. I had, just in case, ordered a pigtail to connect to the Jeep which will be delivered today and will borrow a friends controller. Hopefully I can get that to work until I get a Tekonsha P3 ordered and installed...

Great thread! Thanks for putting it together.

I ordered the 3021-P pigtail, but my first thought was to flip the wires on the brake controller end. However after reading this 3 or 4 times, I finally realized that I should be reversing the wires at the big grey end that plugs into the Jeep harness.
Ya, I always seem to do everything ass-backwards first try. Fortunately this time I didn't.

Now to mount it in the Jeep....

This is excellent. I just ordered this harness. Will make the install that much easier. Went with the P2.

We have a Rockwood A-frame style camper that comes in at 2,252 lbs and typically loaded to 3,000-ish. Our 2007 Wrangler Unlimited was only rated to 3,500/350. Really looking forward to the higher GVWR and tongue weight and the better transmission.

It will be our first foray with our 2014 TH.

anybody know if a all vehicles come with the connector under the dash? if not, I guess if a hitch as added after that fact you are on you own for wiring?

The connector under the dash may be part of the 7 pin wiring harness install.

I think some people that have had the "towing package" installed aftermarket say that for that harness they have to tear up the interior to run it.

Dodge does not make brake controller that plugs in. I am having that problem, finding out all of this now. Waiting to hear what dealer will do for me, so i can use my electric brakes. Control box from grand cherokee does not have right plug end.

I think you just need to get the right cable for your old controller or get a new controller with the correct cable as per posts just above yours.

I read your other post and I'm pretty sure no car manufacturer makes brake controllers since I think it more to do with the trailer than the vehicle.
