Throttle body on 2.4L

Has anyone ever applied or even looked at a performance throttle body on the 2.4L engine? Since this is the Multi-air I4, I don't know if it would be a possible upgrade, but it looks like there are some options available.

If something like this is possible, would the engine need to be re-tuned?

I thought that maybe someone here has tried or investigated this, so it seems worthwhile to look here first.

I have a fair idea, but now I'm wondering if I missed something.

Without a proper tune a better throttlebody really doesn't do a whole lot, on my 3.2 a higher flowing TB made higher rpm performance a bit better, but it was the tune to take advantage of the air flow that made all the difference in the world. If you actually want performance invest in HP Tuners and get them working on support for it. The above 2 mods really won't do much at all.
Also fun fact, all the bolt ons available on a V6 but without a tune, is still slower than a stock V6 with only a tune as a mod.

Interesting stuff. The upgrades - Throttle Body, lightweight flywheel - whatever, will be ignored by the ECM because it doesn't see them as beneficial because it was programmed for what was in or on the engine, not what was changed.

I almost went with the lighter flywheel, but saw some stories about the bad harmonics that can be introduced into the engine with that option. Likewise, a larger volume TB won't do exactly what you want unless, like Tyler said, you properly tune the engine. Then there is the Multiair engine which is a different animal anyway.

He's really done a lot of research into this and I haven't seen anything to contradict him.

I think it's more of a complications if you go that route. I haven't had seen anyone upgraded to a performance throttle body. I can only compare if you would probably install a tuner rather than giving us a headache. It's harder to troubleshoot if anything goes wrong. If it's just throttle response I have mine installed a Pedal Commander on my Cherokee. There's a few good reason to install one and here's why: Pedal Commander Review June 2021 | Full Guide And FAQ | MOTORING CRUNCH. I can bet my *a$$! on this.
