Good morning, thanks for the info. It just so happened that I went to do a firmware update and it errors out each time. I did the factory reset before the firmware update attempt, checked that my USB drive is formatted to FAT32, tried two different USB drives, but no luck. I have sent an email to Dan awaiting his response. I had no issues in the past doing firmware updates, so this is a bit intriguing.
The plot thickens....! 😂 Maybe some KGB or CCP ransomware on there!
Kidding of course  Reply back what you hear from Dan please. (y)

Got the update installed. Not sure what the issue was but I ended up going to this site: Teyes and downloaded the update and extracted to my flash drive. Pulled the CC3 out of the dash and removed the plug for USB1 that is used for the front camera. Plugged in the single USB cable and then the flash drive. Update success!
So now I am getting things set up again to my liking. Will address the radio station later.

Good news so far. (y) Before putting back in dash perhaps try and jiggle the ant power and antenna (coax) wires if possible to see if any loose connection.

New audio issue after latest firmware update:

I've had the CC3 in my 2015 Jeep Cherokee KL for about a year. Two issues cropped up recently. The last image on the Teyes backup camera remained displayed for about 50 seconds after using reverse. While diagnosing the issue I found my Teyes dashcam was not functioning also. I updated to the latest firmware which fixed my backup camera issue. I think the dash cam succumbed to the hot sun, not sure. I emailed Dan and he has agreed to replace the dash cam.
After dropping the cam off at the post office I got back in the car and received a text. Volume was a bit low (still tweaking after new firmware) so I went to volume leveler to make adjustments. Not much changed so I tried rebooting thinking it required it possibly after making the changes. After reboot, no audio at all, from anything!

Got home and pulled it from the dash to check connections. Unplugged - re-plugged etc. Reattach power, booted up and same thing, no audio. It was around 100 deg. today and I was sweating bullets in my garage, so I decided to take a break. Went back to it a few hours later and voila! Audio works!
Wondering if anybody has experienced this and if it could be related to heat?

I have heat-related issues from my non-T'EYES dashcam. If it's been in the sun too long, it thermally shuts off until it cools down similar to how a laptop computer, if running hot and the fan can't keep it cool, will get flaky until it finally just shuts off. Let it cool down and it comes back on fine. Note in the T'EYES website there's a specific patch regarding "JEEP / No Audio". There's no additional information so Dan may need to fill in the dots on when it's needed. Here's two links to check out to see if this matches what you described.

Jeep Audio Fix - T'EYES

QuestionL
Do you have BOTH the T'EYES backup cam and the USB windshield cam?? If so, how is the clarity of the backup cam (it's supposed to be 1080p, right? )

Also if you have the dash cam, is it USB? What app do you use on the CC3 to access it? I'm trying to figure out whether to get it and mount it in my grill as, say, a front parking cam. Does it just plug into the T'EYES and "work"?

Thanks for the link. I will ask Dan about it.

I have both cams from Teyes. The rear has much better image quality than the factory, especially at night. Looks like 1080p for sure. Very happy I put the work into the installation. Use the wiring set from Teyes. Stock electrical will not work. I ran the wires from inside the hatch, up the rubber conduit into the vehicle and then to the front.
I used this mount; Backup Camera Bracket

The dash cam is USB. Teyes insists you have to use their camera, although I've seen many on Ebay that I think might work. Like this one: Dash Camera Specs seem to be the same except Teyes says their sensor is Sony.........
The app to access and record video is the "DVR". Basically, plug and play. I would not mount it on the exterior however, it is not made to be exposed to weather etc.

I have not touched my firmware since I installed the unit. Whatever it came on has been working properly for the most part so I am afraid of touching it and risking any issues. I've read of issues with bluetooth not working after an update because the config file was missing information about the BT adapter so I just feel comfortable using what works.

I know I have had occasional minor issues with audio not working. Maybe once every 50 times I turn my car on the audio will not work at all, whether it is Sirius, Google maps or local files etc. I found that when this happens I simply have to reboot the head unit (not turning the car off, just reboot from the power options) and after the reboot everything will work fine. This has been one of my only few minor issues, the other being that sometimes when I am driving, it will seem like the head unit randomly opens an app on it's own. Sometimes it's the BT phone app and gives me a dial pad to enter a number and other times it will open the video player app and start playing the last item I had played on there but these have been fairly minor problems and I haven't wanted to risk touching the firmware.

I was actually interested in updating the FW because I had read about a new FW giving the option to disable the internal mic and only use an external one, however looking into further, apparently there is a new CC3 unit they started making earlier this year which has a different back design and motherboard and you can only disable the microphone on that model, where as mine would require me to desolder the mic or do other things so I did not follow through with the update because I feel like they just bring more/other headaches with them.

I hope you're able to resolve your issues. I have still been happy with mine and would still recommend it, especially even more so now that apparently there's a new model where you can disable the microphone instead of having to physically break it which just seems beyond ridiculous to me.

My intention to update to the latest firmware was to correct an issue with my backup camera, which it did fix. However I'm not sure if the new firmware caused my loss of audio, or is related to heat (it's been over 100° here) or simply a coincidence.
I do agree, if things are working correctly, why mess with it?
I do like to tinker however, even though it can cause issues there is always something to be learned.

Thanks @hexrays. Now that I've got a 1080p + screen on my T'EYES, I'd like the higher res. rear cam with the better night performance than the factory. I also want to take advantage of the AHD image that the T'EYES supports instead of the current CVBS lower resolution. I purchased on AliExpress two weeks ago a replacement camera. I saw the license plate bracket and it's definitely interesting but going a slightly different route. I'm going to take out the built-in reverse camera and mount the new AHD 1080p in the same place. I will need to fashion a bracket for the inside to hold it in or truthfully, may just use construction-type adhesive to permanently mount it in the hole.

For the front cam, I ordered one on AliExpress that looked the same fo $18. Figured if it didn't work, the worst case was I'd be out $18! I agree with you on the "their sensor is Sony....". 😏 "Sony made in Guangzhou"

Mine is fine, no issues at all. I'm just expanding it with things the stock uConnect 8.4 couldn't support (e.g. 1080p back-up cam, 2nd front-facing camera, etc.)

And my unit actually is one of the newer ones, the CC3 2K. I got it about 4 months ago right after they introduced it. The fan is internal to the case and yes, I can disable the microphone in software and use an external mic (no need to remove the built-in mic). You probably know this but you can buy a 2K screen for your original CC3 to bring it to 2K resolution if you want. I can attest it's super sharp but, after having it, I have to say that for a car, it's overkill. In the end, have I every watched a 2K movie or wanted to see YouTube in 2K in my car?? No. Also, at 2K the fonts are smaller so for older eyes like mine, it's harder to read small text by default (I increased the font size to compensate but again, I wouldn't say the 2K is make-or-break feature. The original screen is already so nice it's a huge improvement on the stock uConnect or any 3rd party ones that have smaller 7/8/9" screens).

Nice! If it works, it is a much simpler installation and also less expensive. I'm excited for your project. Keep me posted on how it goes.

Thanks for that info. I was wondering whether the upgraded screen would be worth it. It sounds like it may not be. I do watch occasional movies on mine and plan to watch some football if I'm not able to be home and need to be in my car. Not really that important to have a super sharp image. I too appreciate the larger fonts 😁

Will do. In the end, I also want to experiment with the in-car wiring to see if there's any way to use the existing video feed wires instead of running the included cabling (but continuing letting CANBUS provide the triggering ). I probably won't get the camera from Ali for a couple weeks but will post back here once I try it.

Jiggling is always good, whether it be a wire connection or a booty Jiggle. At least that is what I tell my GF. ;)

Great thread by the way, for all of you involved. Keep it going for all of us who one day may be replacing our stock Uconnect units!

Change the DPI on the T'EYES CC3

Here's a new trick for old eyes like mine. On the T'EYES you can actually adjust the dpi of the screen to make everything larger/smaller similar to how on MS Windows you can adjust your screen resolution for larger or smaller monitors.

Follow the steps below. Depending on your model of CC3 (2k screen or non-2k screen), set the DPI to your preference. Good numbers are below.

960 dpi - This is the default on the CC3 2K screen. Fits a lot on the screen but for older eyes, some fonts and images may be too small.
-------------------------------------------------------
685 dpi - This is the default on the CC3 regular screen. This is a great option if you want larger fonts and images on a 2K screen model.
-------------------------------------------------------
480 dpi - This is a great option if you want larger fonts and images on a non-2K model. On a 2K screen, it's very large (maybe someday when the eyes are really bad) 😂

Hi, does the 2015 jeep cherokee climate control (non-dual) works with this cc3 2k unit and do all known features work? I've seen an ad saying don't buy it if you have this type of HVAC, but I'm not sure if it's already compatible with the last upgrades, thanks in advance.
