... its the car I'd been drooling over for years and kicking myself for not seeing when my last car died. I'd been seeing some good deals on new and used and since I had some free time, decided to go test drive one in person to see the inside and how it drove.
Well, when we pulled back into the dealer and the sales guy asked what I'd rate it, I told him exterior styling = 10, interior styling = 8 (had some great features my Cherokee Sport did not and tons of storage space) but the actual drive of the car = 5! It was kinda awful!!! I mean, it felt like I was driving a dump truck! When I first pulled out, I thought maybe it was me cause its not my car and your cautious in another car but then I put my foot down on the pedal more and I swear, that thing barely moved!! Even when I got on the road, it felt incredibly heavy, like I was towing something and when I tried to floor it more, the engine was noisy and sounded like it was struggling.
I didn't even talk with the sales guy, just thanked him for his time and its got me thinking maybe I am a Jeep girl and just don't know it but the Cherokee felt 10x better on the road. I test drove 3 and each felt like it was gliding on air, as it still does at times. The Rogue was sluggish and felt like a boat!.
So here's my question, is it possible something was wrong with that car? My 4-banger is 184 HP while the Rogue was 170, does that make that much of a difference? My previous car was a 200 HP V6 and while it was an adjustment to my Cherokee, its only slight but the CHerokee to the Rogue felt like a major difference. Is it because of the Rogue's CVT?
Anyway, not trying to make excuses for the Rogue just shocked at how awful it felt. But it did make me appreciate my Cherokee more and remind what sold me on it.
