There were times in my week of driving that I questioned whether I was driving a sport sedan or an off-roader.
The new chassis is tight, the steering responsive and the braking flat and reassuring......
..in Sport mode the Cherokee V6 can set the pace – brake, lift, carve into a corner and get back on the power. ...the fat steering wheel conveys a perception of safety and control....
All of those functions (from the Tech package) worked without harsh intrusion to my driving and did not hamper the fun of sliding around on a gravel road.
...But, see that ragged washboard ahead? Meet Mr. Steam Iron. The Cherokee streaked cross packed washboard with barely a chatter.
And that’s what separates a Cherokee from the competition, including the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forester and Ford Escape.
Inside, the cabin is contemporary with years of clever and enjoyable ingenuity built into the design. ....The rearview camera with guidance lines may be the clearest and best in the industry......
.....The old Cherokee will long be remembered, but long live the new Cherokee for its spirit of comfortable adventure.
