Thanks, this tsb correlates with my poll showing the majority of these symptoms happen with AD1. I will have to take a look at mine. Hopefully these new shafts fix the issue, I would hate for mine to be worse from the repair. I will wait and see what others have to say. Thanks @flaco.

....
Can anyone with AD2 look at their driveshafts and compare them with the TSB pictures? Maybe AD2 come with 'stepped' shafts from the factory...
Mine's an AD2 and has the Stepped Diameter Center Shaft.

Got a call from my dealership last week to setup appointment for them to troubleshot wobble after I had forwarded them information (from this forum!) related to the wobble and the new shafts appearing to resolve the issue.

Dropped vehicle off last night so I called them this morning to tell them about this TSB in case they hadn't seen it.

Just heard from dealership saying new shafts have been ordered and are on their way! Very happy!

Had my Jeep serviced at dealer a few months ago .....mentioned the "updated axles" to service mgr.....gave him the part #'s..... he called me two days later and said the part numbers were not a valid part number ??
Well, guess what ?? He will be getting a call tomorrow with the T.S.B information, and the part numbers (same ones I gave him a few months ago)... hopefully get the axles ordered and get the "wobble" corrected.

it is my understanding that AD1 and AD2 are both just for four-wheel drive vehicles, correct? if so, does this mean front-wheel drive vehicle owners with the wobble (like myself) are still SOL? i don't know if this TSB should offer me encouragement or not.... :/

For now, it seems to be the case, unfortunately :frown:

Member flaco (the OP here) is in the same boat and was told *operating as intended* once the dealer realized the beefy shafts were for 4WD/AD1 models only.

Keep the pressure On, FCA will have to recognize there is a problem with some FWD KLs, sooner or later.

They could be releasing the TSB only for ADI's due to the availability of the part. There might be something coming for you still. Have you spoken to Chrysler customer service?

it's on the to-do list. over the past couple weeks i've been compiling information to bring to the dealer when i take it in. depending on what the dealer says/does, i'll go from there. (a while ago i called the dealer to mention i had the issue, but the couple folks i spoke with claimed to never have heard of the problem, and suggested i bring the jeep in for a look-see. because the dealership's location is pretty inconvenient, i wanted to have all my ducks in a row before i paid them a visit.)

Just called my dealership. He confirmed that the TSB is out, and all they need to do before ordering the parts is to visually confirm whether the vehicle has the stepped shafts or the straight shafts. Once they visually confirm it, boom, they order the parts and do the fix. Very excited for this. I had been slowly trying to just accept that the wobble will be there until the end of time. I'm now optimistic that this will fix it.

This would be good info for anyone shopping for a new KL AD1 - get down and look at the half-shafts before you buy!

I would like to know whether newly built AD1 Cherokees have the stepped shafts right now.

I'm also curious about whether these new *custom* shafts are any different from stepped shafts already present on AD2 Cherokees, and/or Trailhawks as well.

And did they eliminate the wobble?

Good to hear that this wobble thing is finally getting sorted out for you people

But looking at the replacement part posted, did they really redesign it for the AD1, or they are just starting using the same as AD2 and TH ???

Thanks all for posting pics of your axels, it is very much appreciated

It's going to be impossible to sort out those part numbers : 2014 TH vs 2015, AD2s, customs for AD1s, etc... It's anybody's guess as to what the differences are between all of them. The only thing we know for sure is that AD1s with straight shafts are vulnerable to the wobble. And so are FWDs, even if FCA hasn't recognized it yet.

I stopped by my dealership today, just to say hi to the service guy (I bought and maintained my Libertys there). No visit for the KL yet. And I asked him if they had done front axels on Cherokees for wobbling ; he scratched his head for a second and replied they had done two 2014s. I told him about the new TSB ; he hadn't seen it so he asked for my phone#, which gives him my client profile up on the computer, and he proceeded to check (I believe with my VIN) and immediately saw the TSB. I told him I had the straight shafts, he then told me he would double-check with the manager to order my shafts immediately. He hasn't phoned back so I assume the shafts have been ordered and I won't need to have the Jeep checked first to confirm I have straight shafts.
I went in there thinking I would book an appointment later in the fall, and now I'll probably get new shafts in a short while because my service guy wants me all fixed up asap.
Can't wait !!

I stopped by my dealership today assuming they were open and walked in....only to find a sign saying they were closed Sat the 5th through Monday...oops.

Was on my way out and then I saw the owner who had come in just to do some paperwork and left the door unlocked. Cool guy, said "Hey, Skip" instead of "What the **** are you doing in here?"

So I showed him the copy of the TSB @flaco posted and he was amazed...looked at the date and said "Geez, this just came out!" and then "Can I make a copy of this, we have several owners who are going to be ecstatic!!"

I told him I was one of those owners and said he could keep the TSB and I would leave him to his work, didn't want to bother him...he followed me outside thanking me for stopping by and bringing the TSB. Then he mentioned several customers who loved their Cherokee with one exception, the wobble. I reiterated that I was one also, and said he would get a set of the new half shafts for me and call me when they arrived.

I feel better already....
