Iv'e been looking around the forum and have seen lots upon even more threads about different lift kits and haven't found the thread with a list of every kit available in one place, so that's what this thread is for. This is a non-biased list since I don't even own a Cherokee anymore/yet (plan to get a 2019/2020 TH later this year.)

All prices are listed in USD for easy comparison and are the prices from the official sites.

1" Spring lift - Dobinsons Lift kit with springs and shocks ($810.00) https://www.dobinsonsdirect.com/product/dobinsons-lift-kit-for-4x4-jeep-cherokee-kl-2014-to-2019-sport-latitude-trailhawk/

1.5" Spacer Lift Kit (spacers for rear only) - Hazard Sky ($92-$138) https://www.hazardsky.com/store/kl-lift

2" Spacer Leveling Kit - Rough Country Leveling Kit ($159.95) (2" front and 1" rear from what I can tell) https://www.roughcountry.com/jeep-suspension-lift-kit-60400.html

All lifts recommend a maximum tire size of 255/75R17 (with trimming of the pinch welds and plastic wheel well liners)

Has anyone tried out the rough country one? I would possibly buy it if it's worth it for my ad1.

#14 ·
For $300 less than MFC’s its totally worth it. I’m more curious about tire size compatibility from stock to post-lift.

Stock tire size on an AD1 is 225/65/17 but from what I’ve read online you can fit 245/65/17 on. But with a lift peeps are up to 245/70/17.

Just verifying as I’m about to drop the hammer on new tires.

Well all kits can be leveling kits. All you need to do is shift the knuckle lower on the strut. That’s all any of these lifts are. Move the knuckle down on the strut body and put spacers under or above the rear springs. Those front spacers or supports are just to hold the strut together. They don’t hold any weight or anything. So you should be able to combine any of these lifts with dobinsons struts and springs. The hardware will work together. I don’t have all the details on what that will do to cv angles and things like that

I'm currently riding on Yokohama Geolandar 235/65/17 and don't face any rubbing.

With my ad1 do I have to use the hazard sky lit for it (the $43 one) or can I go with the standard one (the more expensive one) with the wheel centering rings? I was gonna go with the rough country lift but it's more expensive and not that much more of a lift. I can still run 245/70/17s on some 17x8 with +35 offset too, right?

#26 ·
hey folks
has anybody done this combo from the lift options
that i am thinking of:
1. front - dobinson coils 1,25 inches
2. rear - 2 inches MFC offroad
tires - 245/70/17
or rather 255/70/18?

With that ROUGH COUNTRY "Leveling kit";
Is it just mean to take 1" of rake out of the stance and lift the whole vehicle by 1" in total?
I'm wondering if it provides the same overall amount of lift/clearance as all the other spacer kits.

The collars in it look much more attractive than bolts driven into billet aluminum. Actual Grade 8 bolts holding the collars together seems a much sturdier design. I think I'd rather opt for that style lift if the rear spacers really DID add the 2" of overall lift like the other kits.

Makes you wonder.... their site description is SO VAGUE

Is there an overall consensus as to which one is superior to the rest??

There doesn't appear to be a "superior" lift, as far as product quality or reliability.

I haven't read about anyone have failures or problems with any of the above lifts.

Its mostly down to how much you want to spend, how much you want to lift, and how much you want to alter your suspension.

Its mostly down to how much you want to spend, how much you want to lift, and how much you want to alter your suspension.
And how often you want to replace other suspension, steering and power train components such as:
* CV boots
* ball joints
* front and rear LCAs
* hub bearings
* outer tie rods
* 4x4 alignments

Points to consider while you are drooling about bigger offsets ...
* ball joint angles
* LCA rear bushing angles
* strut buckling
* hub bearing stress
* outer tie rod angles
Here are the axle dimensions (major dia, minor dia, length):

Front Inner CV Boot: 3.71”, 1.21” 4.5”
Front Outer CV Boot: 4.02”, 1.93”, 4.5”
Rear Inner CV Boot: 3.67”, 1.17”, 5.0”
Rear Outer CV Boot: 3.67”, 1.17”, 3.5”

It appears that the front and rear inner boot dimensions are very close and may be interchangeable.

What is the difference between the rubber in the truck boots and UHV boots? Most car and truck boots appear to have an asymmetric fin design? The UHV boots look like they have a better symmetric fin design and bigger valley width for high angle travel/flex.

Maybe a silly question, but does adding a lift kit have any effect on towing performance? I tow a trailer with my SxS on it (~2k lbs. total) and don't want to affect that ability. I see many other people tow various trailers with their Cherokees, too.

I'm not seriously considering a lift, I use the SxS for the gnarly off-road fun, but thought this was a good question for others as well. ;)

Hey y'all - new to site
@Bthomasfire - did you install the kit? Pictures?
@AGP - which kit did you go with? Pictures? Issues?

I'm looking at hoisting my '17 TrackHawk - 245s for now, 255s when these wear out. 3"^ with 1.5 spacers. Thoughts everyone?
