The liftgate opens about 6 inches then immediately closes, has anyone experience having this issue?

Manual, or auto lift gate?

Mines manual, and it will hold itself open at 15"
It will will actually open at 30" when the struts
are in a position to lift the hatch. HTH

Its auto.I tried changing the battery of the keys but still having the issue

If you are standing too close, the liftgate may stop. Step aside and see if that solves the problem.

Wish it did. I tried to open from far away from inside and at the back. each time still opening about 6 inches then closes.

Well my 2 cents ( which is not worth a whole lot lol) is maybe your struts are bad or are sticking and it just can no longer lift the weight so it only gets so far then cancels. Other than that only other thing I can think of is maybe its getting stuck somewhere? Maybe oil the hinges? I'm just throwing out ideas as I don't even really know how the auto liftgate works. Good luck though.

Looks to me that the powerise module doesnt have enough power to lift it up. Then the system detects the stall from the Hall sensors and reverses the operation. So either your right strut is worn or the left electric one is. Or it can be your battery not giving enough current. It can take more than 5amps to lift it up from the bottom

I wonder. Does it use the backup camera to see if anything is behind the car when opening. Maybe that’s why it won’t open if your too close. As for the battery issue you can test that by just starting the car then seeing if it will open.
