Auto-lock feature?

With my Mazda, when I walk away from the car, it "auto-locks" itself without doing anything other than walking away. My 2019 latitude only locks when I purposely push the door handle button or key fob lock button. Is this normal behavior or is there a setting somewhere for that feature that I'm missing?
Thanks,
Roger

I think it is normal. I have not seen or read about a setting that allows auto lock. But I would say the best way to confirm if something exist is to take a peek in the owners manual. If you have not already I would create a Jeep Owners account. It will allow you to get health report cards on your Jeep, it will have the spec sheet on everything that came standard and optional on it, and all your owners manuals and warranty information in one easy to access place. I would then check your build sheet se what options you have and use that to refer to the owners manual in the effected sections. I do hope though that you are enjoying your Cherokee.

There is not. My Elite does every possible thing a Cherokee is capable of doing, and that's not one of them unfortunately. I'd be happy if it just unlocked when you touch the door handle like our Edge does. Gotta press the buttons, you'll get used to it. Our Jeeps are pretty smart, but they aren't that smart...LOL!!!

if you do remote entry when you grip the handle it will unlock, I assume you have the tech package with the push button start. It is one of the features I love about the car. I have mine set to unlock just the drivers door if I grab the drivers handle and to unlock all the doors if I grab the passenger side handle.

Well damn!!! I'll have to dig a little deeper into the settings I guess, but I don't think my Trailhawk does that. That would be awesome if it did though...Definitely, not walk away, auto lock feature, or roll the windows up or down, open, close moonroof with the fob features like 90% of every modern car today pretty much all have, but the damn thing supposedly will park itself. I don't have enough trust in the technology to have tested that feature yet, and frankly, I'm not quite that lazy either!!! LOL

I have a 2019 elite and my door handles are touch sensitive on the inside. As soon as I touch they unlock. As for the locking, the car knows when the fob is away and it does auto-lock after a period of time (at least on mine). I believe it is also stated in the manual. I did a test of this one time and when I came back to my car it was locked. I don't think the vehicle has any sort of feature for auto rolling up the windows or sunroof though.

It does unlock when you touch the door handle, I found it!!! I swear, after 6 months of owning the thing, I'm still finding new things. You guys are awesome!!! LOL. Now @sqenixs, have you tried the auto park yet?

I have only used the auto-park where I back into a parking spot. It does work, but it took a few tries before it got in there. Once it was in it was a perfect park.

I could have sworn my cherokee auto-locked on me after I was away from the vehicle for a while. I will need to re-test.

The only auto lock I have is my finger on the black button on the door handle. I close it and push the button. Its habit. If I forget if I did, I have u-connect on my smart phone to do it.

There are 2 ways the Cherokee will ONLY AUTO RE-LOCK . #1 is if you touch the door handle and it unlocks but you don't open the door or #2 If you are washing the Cherokee with your keys in your pocket the water sprayed by the door handles will unlock the vehicle BUT it will RELOCK in 30 - 60 seconds again as long as you don't actually open a door. I have never timed how long it actually takes to relock. That is the only way the Cherokee will RELOCK , but it does not have any type of walk away auto locking that I know of. Give it a try and you will see what I mean.

Is there an update to this?? I just purchased a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve and I am so used to walking away from my car and the doors locking behind me.... I am have been digging in the settings menu trying to find a setting for it and have been unsuccessful.. something tells me there is not one.
