After seeing a few people on here do the conversion I bit the bullet and ordered my used 8.4 yesterday from LKQ. I had seen one show up at the location to me in Birmingham, but it had already been sold by the time I got there. They had one in Maine and I went ahead and told them to start sending it this way! This one does have the nav and Sirius xm. To those that have done the swap, how tough is the antenna to install to get the nav capabilities?

South Alabama here lol....take a photo of the back of your stock radio so that the cables and FAKRA connectors (colored connectors ) can be seen. Or explain which connectors you have . Yellow, Brown or Curry and blue together , white. I personally only needed a FAKRA C to K convert cable. Look at my post write up in the owners garage titled RA2 5.0" to RA3 w/ Nav 8.4"

How much did you pay for it?

Chek out my thread on the 5.0 to 8.4 upgrade I did back in July:

http://jeepcherokeeclub.com/4-2014-jeep-cherokee-general-discussion/189713-5-0-8-4n-ra4-upgrade.html

I think all Cherokees come with navigation ready antennas so there was no need fo me to add a separate antenna just for the navigation. When reading through my thread, I had to buy a splitter for the back of the 8.4 which was connected to a sirius/xm antenna and my main antenna that is on the roof of the car. I had to add a separate sirius/xm since my Cherokee never came with it in the first place but I'm not sure if that is your case too. I also bought my 8.4 from LKQ and it works flawlessly after I retrieved the anti-theft code for it.

When I went to the dealer today and told the service guy I needed a proxy alignment to stop the flashing odometer, he looked at me like I had two heads. It was Saturday, so no real "techs" on the job. Told me to call back on a weekday, and the shop foreman should be able to do it. Not confidence inspiring...

Have an appointment in a couple days to have the RA3 flashed. The service guy I talked to had a lot of questions, like who installed it, and how difficult to hook up, how much I paid, etc. I told him it was plug and play with the exception of the proxy alignment I needed to stop the odo from flashing, and correct the heater controls. He said should be no problem, and it would likely take 20-30 minutes to complete.

Took the dealer about 1/2 hour for the proxy alignment. Charged me $54.00 CDN. Everything now works as it should, including temp control. They told me there was an issue, that the camera did not turn off immediately when put in park. So I explained to them how the rear camera delay works, LOL.

Question to those that have completed install. I installed a 8.4NA RA4 unit, had to run a antenna line from radio to antenna connecting to Curry Fakra K plug from radio to plug of same color on antenna. Do not get a XM or Sat signal. Does the Prox Flash fix that issue or is something else causing no connection. Also went to my local dealer and they had no clue on how to do flash, will try others tomorrow

I'm not sure if the flash will fix that or not. For me, my old 5.0 unit had satellite radio, so I just plugged the stock connectors into the back of the 8.4A, and everything worked from day one. When I installed the navigation, it too worked from the get go. The flash stopped the odometer from blinking and allowed the proper climate control to display on the screen.
