The car weighs 4000 pounds. Is 200 gonna make or brake anything? I get it, you don’t want the sunroof. OK, but to say because it weighs 200 pounds you don’t want the car seems silly. Just say, I don’t want the sunroof. Myself, wouldn’t buy one without it. Keep looking, your car is out there, or waiting to be ordered[emoji4][emoji4]

Disagree as much as you want......lets see some proof then?

So if there is a 200lb difference between models based on the drivetrain ADi vs ADII, and engine choice. What makes you think that there would be such a large difference with a sunroof.

200lbs for a sunroof is 100% wrong and I encourage you to prove me wrong.

The sunroof is not standard it's a $1600 option. I do have my eye on some left over 2020s but they all have the extra 200 lbs sunroof. It's been a total beat down the last month looking for "my Cherokee". Spitfire Orange is appealing to me if nothing other than the rareness it would be.
Also, with reference to the sunroof being standard equipment for Trailhawk Elites, it is part of the Elite package, so that's telling us that it indeed is standard equipment. I had to look at my window sticker.

The sunroof is not part of the standard package for the TH/E, for either 2019 or 2020. It was a $1295 option in 2019, and it's a $1595 option in 2020. Go to Jeep.com "Build & Price" and see for yourself.

(the link says "Build & Price Your New Jeep Gladiator, Wrangler & More, but it should lead you to the 2020 Cherokee Trailhawk Elite).

Also, my Build Sheet and Window Sticker clearly shows the sunroof as optional equipment (a $1295 option on my WS).

As far as how much a sunroof adds to the weight of a vehicle, this should be easy to settle with a little help from our forum members.

If the sunroof added 200 lbs to the overall vehicle weight, then it stands to reason that the overall payload should be 200 lbs less for a similarly-equipped vehicle without the sunroof, right? All we need to do is see what the maximum payload is on the driver's door placard. That would be "The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed".

I'll go first.

I have a 2019 TH/E with the Technology Group, Trailer Tow Group, 2.0L Turbo, ComandView Sunroof, and Rock Rails. Maximum payload = 900 lbs.

Now, if anyone has the exact same options, less the sunroof, let us know what your placard says. If the sunroof is 200 lbs, the max payload will be 1100 lbs. Argument solved.

Rock rails are not light, they would weigh more than the sunroof option.
As per FCA's specs the max cargo capacity for a 2020 Cherokee KL is 1000lbs.

Again Sunroofs are not 200lbs on a Cherokee KL

If you are responding to my post, I'm looking for someone who has the exact same options as I do, less the sunroof. That means to include the rock rails too..

The "generic" payload capacity is what FCA lists. You can't go by that. The actual payload is what's on your door placard. That takes into account all of the options of your vehicle. This is explained pretty well in the owner's manual. Some have posted 1,100 lbs as their max payload. Mine is 900 lbs.

A quick internet search shows that sunroofs weigh anywhere between 40 to 200 lbs. If the KL sunroof is closer to 40 lbs, then I would expect zero impact on the max payload. If it's around 100 lbs, then I would expect a difference of 100 lbs max payload for similiarly-equipped vehicles except for sunroof. Logical, right?

Now - anyone with a TH/E spec'ed out like mine, less the sunroof? Anyone else want to post their placard payload and options for a Latitude, Upland, Limited. etc? I believe all we need to settle this once and for all is for the placard payload (AKA "The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed") for two identically-equipped vehicles except for the sunroof.

Edit: For the record, the Mopar rock rails only add about 100 lbs total (post #7)...

Thought i read somewhere that some trim levels are discontinued, and others what was once an option is no standard on models are now standard, and a new color or 2. See if i can find it.

The Overland was discontinued. It shared some of the creature comfort options as the Trailhawk Elite. I still haven't been able to confirm if there will be a Trailhawk Elite for 2021 now that the Overland has been discontinued.
I just got an email saying there is no Trailhawk Elite for 2021. Unknown if it will be available later in the year.

That seems to be from 20 days ago. Nothing new for 2021? I wish we could at least get a 2021 color list. It did say the 2021 Jeep Cherokee is scheduled to start production on Monday August 31. Are they making 2020s right now? When is or was the cutoff date to order a 2020? The dealers I've spoken to don't seem to be very informed. It's very hard to find a Trailhawk without sunroof so it looks like I'll have to order one. I don't want the extra 200 lbs. The article didn't mention a Trailhawk Elite. The Elite has all the goodies at a discounted price over adding them to the regular Trailhawk. What I want is a Trailhawk Elite with NO sunroof and all the other options. The color would be Hydro Blue, Firecracker red or the new for 2021(?) Spitfire orange. If there's a blue or red one out there new or used I can't find it.
Official details should be out September 1st here: FCA US Media

2020 build out = 8/28/2020
2021 orders open = 7/08/2020
2021 production start = 8/31/2020

I hear you on the lack of Elite info, sometimes it's a package on the TH, and other times, Jeep chooses to make it a separate trim. I ordered my Elite back in February 2018 and my window sticker has the old "Trailhawk L Plus" name on it, like the 2018s had. I think it's partly just because the Elite is the top end model with so much standard, there isn't much incentive for them to add more features...although they seem to be stingy with heated rear seats

If you can't find an Elite without a sunroof, you might as well take the opportunity to order a 2021 to your spec. The cool thing is that you get your name on the Window Sticker!

So August 31st. They just change that 1 number on the Vin that indicates year model?!?! Cuz the damn things haven't changed a thing since they started building in August of 2018, or whenever they started building the 2019's...LOL!!! Don't think you're going to find an Elite without a sunroof, heck maybe you could order one without it, who knows, since it is standard equipment. Pretty sure the only thing new might be that Orange replacing Firecracker Red. Probably the same for 2022s as well. Like I said, I'd be searching the country for that sweet deal on the last 2020 on the lot when the 2021's start rolling into the dealerships. Persistent searching, and a little patience sure paid off for me. Good luck man!!!
Full production for the 2019s was January 2018. My 2019 was built February 2018.

Yeah, sunroof was optional on mine too

I know, I was just paraphrasing the fact that the 2021's aren't going to be any different than 19-20's. As for the panoramic roof, whether it's an option or not, I've not seen, nor heard from anyone who owns a TH/E that doesn't have it. Again, also paraphrasing...LOL

Maybe no "Trailhawk Elite" model, but it looks like there's an "Elite" package:

However, I don't believe it.

Chrome Tow Hooks, Off-Road Info Pages, SiriusXM Traffic Plus, HD Radio, Radio: Uconnect 4C Nav w/8.4" Display, For Details Visit DriveUconnect.com, Carpeted Cargo Area Trim Panels, 1-Year SiriusXM Guardian Trial, 5-Year SiriusXM Travel Link Service, GPS Navigation, 5-Year SiriusXM Traffic Service, SiriusXM Travel Link, Ventilated Front Seats, 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hot Spot, Hands-Free Power Liftgate, Heated 2nd Row Seats, Fore/Aft Adjusting 2nd Row Seat

First of all, who wants Chrome Tow Hooks??? And Off-Road Info Pages? Really??? The same ones promised for 2019+??

I guess we'll just need to wait and see.

...and the Overland is dead:

I'm definitely interested in the Off Road Pages option.
So would a lot of us. But history is saying that option is just more smoke...

...and many more. Long promised, never delivered.
