Don’t hold your breath, but there may be a a new recall. I don’t keep up on this stuff so read for yourself.
Dont be! I wish i never got the TH with the active drive lock. Its a feature i never used or probably will ever use. I didnt do my research so silly on my partthe longer I drive 2014 ADIs, the more I like them. sorry
So i had to put mine in 4 low for it to even move. Lol onky one wheel even pulled it
I have a 2014 and im on a 6 momth waiting listjust got a new PTU on 2017 TH a week ago!!
then this showed up in a CarFax email....
If anyone has AlfaOBD, you can get your PTU's part number from there. The date is the date of manufacture of the car (to the best of my knowledge, there's no external resource for the date of manufacture for individual parts - even in most cases on the part itself).Sometimes I'm just a bit slow on the uptick, but I just realized that the 2nd recall 25E-003 applies to ADII PTUs that were replaced in 2014-2018 MYs with P/N 68307403AC, and 2019-2023 MYs with P/N 68333255AA!! Stay with me here...
This is from RMISC-25E003-0473 I posted in the "data dump" a bit ago in this thread:

I wonder why it stopped with the 2019 MY? I wonder if any 2020-2023 ADII PTUs were replaced with this part number? If not, why not? Sure, the most recent P/N is 68333255AE, but if a dealer was waiting on a part for, say, a 2020 and 68333255AA were available, would they hesitate to install it?
So while the recall is for PTUs manufactured in a specific period, P/N 68307403AC could be in any 2014-2018 MY that had their PTU replaced, or P/N 68333255AA in any 2019-2023 MYs (maybe). They are, after all, a replacement part for a bad PTU in any of those model years. I wonder if they can track that part number by VIN considering it was a replacement and not off the production line? I wonder how many have been sold through online sites to independent mechanics? Also I wonder how many have been sold globally? I can only hope dealers and retailers keep good records. I wonder if the manufacture date is stamped on the PTU? Does anyone have a picture of a PTU that shows the P/N and date of manufacture?
If I had my PTU replaced in my 2014-2023 Cherokee anytime in the last 10+ years, you can bet I'd be crawling underneath the car to see if my replacement PTU is subject to the recall! I wouldn't depend on FCA to have that good of records, though they might.
I wonder. View attachment 239155
Unfortunately, that does not work for me. I can see a lot of PTU information including the embedded ECU P/N, but not the P/N of the PTU itself. Perhaps it's because I have the security gateway? If anyone has AlfaOBD, you can get your PTU's part number from there. Last time I looked I saw no part numbers on bottomUnfortunately, that does not work for me. I can see a lot of PTU information including the embedded ECU P/N, but not the P/N of the PTU itself. Perhaps it's because I have the security gateway?
Plan B was to crawl under and take a peak. Can't see much with the skid plates being in the way.

Well that's wonky as heck! I did verify that the RDM "ECU Part Number" is the same as the RDM part number. I can see the "ECU Part Number" for the PTU, but it points to 68307405AA. As far as I can tell, that's for the PTU control module itself. I tried looking that number up but I get zero hits. Typical FCA (in)consistency.Hey @AZJeeper ,
Good point. To be honest, I only assumed it worked on the PTU the same as the RDM but perhaps it's not the case, I've never really looked for a label on my PTU.
On my RDM, I have a physical label with the part number on the RDM housing (driver's side rear surface near where the axle goes in). And when I use AlfaOBD, the part number displayed matches. Of course, AlfaOBD can only read the actuator and has no way to read the RDM unit itself (the metal, gears etc.) so I assumed they 'match' an actuator and housing as an assembly when manufacturing them.
The situation isn’t at all funny, but your comment is hilarious! My first thought as well. People can't get the damn things now, so this is really gonna help matters.
I guess people like me with Cherokees built in 2018 will find out on February 13. I'm surprised they didn't wait until the 14th so the letters could say, "Happy Valentines Day! You need a new PTU, but don't expect to get it until Hell freezes over! Hope your loved one has another vehicle you can use in the meantime."
Yikes, what happened? What about 2015 i had 3 wrecks because of it. The third one totalled my car and if I would have had a passenger they more then likely would have died
