They are not tapered as far as I know. But if possible freeze the bushing and heat the knuckle(don't melt it) and you could probably get it in without a press. Got mine about 3/4 of the way in and all I did was freeze the bushing.
Are these the same bushing for trailhawk or is that another deal entirely. I can't imagine them making a knuckle specifically for that but it appears they did.

I did have to replace 1 knuckle and the salvage yard did give me the wrong one to begin with even though I said it was for a trailhawk so yes there are 2 different ones. Now if the bushings are the same or different between them I don't know.

Kinda what I was thinking. Maybe different mount points on the knuckle for the offloaded suspension but same bushing. What a poor design.

To my knowledge, the bushings are all the same. It's the individual parts that are different, or "beefed" up for off-road use. Interestingly, the bushings themselves appear to be pretty well built as far as I'm concerned. I had originally thought they were entirely rubber like they are on say the Trailing Arms, but that is not the case. It's actually more of a bearing that'll rotate, and swivel depending on the orientation of the suspension. When I had mine replaced, what prompted me was the rubber was cracking, and was afraid it'll just come off, and just hang there. There's a lot more steel in those bushings than just the outer ring.

CP1879 is an EXACT replacement for Trailhawks. I just did this repair today. I used a ball joint press, impact gun and a 32mm socket for the 2 bushings and a custom steel tool (modified something from work) to push the 1 bushing. Alot easier then I thought it be. A second set of hands when using the press is helpful to stabilize it.

Dorman don't look anything like OE bushings. They seem to have rubber base while OE bushings are actually spherical. Good to know they're available as an alternative

I did 3 more Cherokees over last few days and have 2 sets (6 piece) of OE/Genuine knuckle bushings available for to ship/install/etc
Croat!

My girlfriend is in Moncton right now, any chance you could replace her knuckle bushings for potentially both sides? Would you be able to do the work of the pulling the knuckles and reinstalling as well? She's living at a hotel working a contract but is getting the $2k per knuckle suggestion and naturally that's ridiculous. The left is the only one they're suggesting but I'd figure if the option is there for both that's a good idea with about 120k on the Jeep.

Please tell me you still have parts or can still do it.... 😬

I am in the Laurentian north of Montreal and I have called Dorman Tech Support and Sale Department . They told me that the kit BKK82685PR should fit my Cherokee Trailhawk .
The trick is there Cherokee with normal suspension and other , like the Trailhawk , that have the Offroad suspension .
Now I have buy two used Knucles from the scrap yard to fix the Jeep and after that I will deassembled the ones off the Jeep , remove the bushings and make measurement to make sure that the Dorman kit does fit in the Offroad Knucles .
Dorman Sales told me that the kit is presently BO but they have a reception date for August 28 . If my measurements on the old ones match th Dorman specification then I will fit the bushings in and give you Guys knews about it .
There is a racing shop near Drommonville that found bushing that fit but they have to fit them with washers because the inner stell core is shorthe in lenght then the original ones .
He also gave me information about the difference between the Normal and Offroad Knucles . The Normal suspension Knucles bushings are all the same size and the Offroad Knucles Bushings one is bigger the the two other ones .
Will keep you posted for my results

Salut Dominique et bienvenu sur le forum :)

Yes please come back and share. I have a 2015 with the regular suspension and I will need to get this done also.
I was under the impression that even for the regular suspension, all 3 bushings were not identical (2 smaller ones identical, a third one bigger).

Good luck with the fix !

Accordong to this page, the BKK82685 kit is for standard Cherokee suspensions :

Now, Dominique mentions kit #BKK82685PR . Maybe the 'PR' suffix means it is for the off-road suspension ? I'll try to find more info...

Ok... not much info out there, but these guys show the BKK82685PR to fit standard suspension as well :

Funny how they mention Overland trim w/ regular suspension, but not other trims that can also have the AD2 option.
Maybe, just maybe... bushings are the same for TH/AD2 and regular suspensions also. We know the knuckles are different, maybe not the bushings.
