Since there's one for 4X4, I thought I'd start one for the FWD folks. Plus, I'm looking for some suggestions.
I haven't run winter tires since I was driving a Geo Metro, and that was a blast. We didn't put winter tires on the JKU but we're planning to put a set on the Cherokee.

Does anyone have any particular recommendations for tires? We're considering the General Altimax or Goodyear Nordic mainly. Essentially anything CTC sells (guess where I work). Being in Southern Ontario, studs are out. Mostly, the roads around here are slushy, although I ran into some packed ice on the drive back from Parry Sound last winter.

i would recommend Toyo Open Country AT2.
-Light
-Priced Right
-New To the Market (late 2012)
-The quietest All Terrain. I can feel the vibrations/ and hear the noise from y TH's firestone.
-Great customer service - i had a sidewall puncture and they gave me 50%off a new tire (cheaper than purchasing road side hazard)
-Treadlife - pmetics are at 65k warranty, and LT/xtreme sizes have 50k warranty.
-from experience w/ offroad terrains, these tires never skipped a beat.

i'll be purchasing a set first quarter next year along with some wheels to match.

Considering Michelin X-ice3 or Continental ExtremeWinterContact now as our top two choices.

Does anyone have experience with either one? We get a discount on either one.
The only snow tires I ever buy are the Bridgestone Blizzaks. They are simply the best. I have used them on three different vehicles.

Unfortunately that's one brand we don't get a discount on :p
The Blizzaks at Discount Tire for the Cherokee in my area right now are at $132/tire, $528 for the set and you get a $50 mail in rebate so it brings it to $478 which is $120 per tire.

Michelin X-Ice Xi3 are $148/tire ($592) with $50 rebate: $542 = $136/tire

The Firestone Winterforce tires I bought from tirerack.com were only $101 each. Add on top of that $40 for each TPMS.

We ended up ordering our tires and steel wheels on the weekend. In the end, we went with the Continental EWC given that most of the roads where we drive (Midtown Toronto) are pretty well taken care of. The fact that the supplier had them in stock helped as well ;)

Now we just need the Cherokee to show up! With our luck, the dealership has no power anyway due to the ice storm.
