I think anyone driving in any city, town, county that gets snow should have winter tires. The initial investment of having all season or summer tires for warm weather and winter tires for winter is well worth it.

It's been proven that with winter tires you will be in far more control of your vehicle in winter than with running all seasons.
I disagree. Down here we get snow/ice about 3 days a year. That is not worth the investment in a different set of wheels and tires. I will just stay home and not worry about it.
got "beginning to build" email

Has anyone had their order progress from "scheduled" to the production sequence? Today marks 4 weeks since my first (and only) email from Chrysler (considerably longer than "a few days to 2 weeks" they predicted as the normal delay). Getting antsy now!
Not so antsy any longer. Received the following on 9/11/13:
Dear Customer,

Your new Jeep is beginning to build! You can anticipate your vehicle to progress through the next few stages of production over the next 10 days. Our next email to you will communicate that your vehicle has left the plant and is in route to your dealership.

We will contact you next when your vehicle build is complete. Please be patient as we work to provide you with a new Jeep built to your specifications. We sincerely appreciate your business.

Thank you,
The Jeep Brand Team

Now the waiting should be easier!

I just received my second email that I am officially scheduled for production to start in the next two weeks.

Hopefully mine will show up soon, as the dealer indicated that would fall within my estimated build date.

yea in your case its likely not worth it for those few days.

only areas that have snow for long periods of time and in great amounts might see benefit.
My TH is in the Inspection Phase for Day 3 now. I want it to ship......:(

So going off of the 10 day turn around time that was mentioned before, you should be able to get your Cherokee by mid to late october :D

I hope you have started to plan for winter.
I think you misunderstood what I said. It takes about 10 days once the factory releases it for it to arrive in the DFW area. By that I mean once it has passed inspeciton and is scheduled for shipping.

I did not say it takes 10 days to build it and get it to my area.

My mistake!

Any idea how long it will take from production to your dealer for you to take delivery of it? Im guessing 30 days.
No idea. It took 1 month from receiving the first email with the VIN until production started. It only took 3 days to got to the inspection phase after that.
Going by that timeline I should be building by the beginning of next week. Thanks for being my timeline guinea pig.

Mine too! Hope they do mine first! ;)
I think like myself many are in "Lets see the beast " before we order one phase, so hopefully soon, fingers crossed.
My latitude moved to the frame stage this morning. Woohoo!

How do you know this? Seems like some really detailed information being handed down here.
What's next, info on when it goes into the painting process? :D

Jeep VOTS system gives you updates during the build process if you order one.

Actually, Yes. That's the next stage. Then Trim, Final Inspection, Shipping (probably the longest time period), then delivery.

Until then I will just have to settle for some GTA V.

One assumes that the builds going on now will already have the latest flash so no holdups there.
From articles I've read that's a yes. All new builds will have up to date software.

BTW - the VOTS site puts my Latitude (am I the only one getting one of those on this site?) at the paint stage.
I think we are all looking forward to you guys taking delivery of your new Cherokee's and we get to hear about your experiences in everyday use.
