Located about 12 miles south of I-70 in central Utah is a small drainage draw or wash named White Wash. The name comes from a distinctive white alkaline color to the dirt. Further downstream, the wash begins cutting through an orange colored sandstone. It is at this point some sand dunes are encountered. The federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) administers the area and has allowed OHV use. Its a very remote, desolate area. Parts of it resembled what the planet Mars must look like. But the color of the orange sand was interesting.
I have never visited this area before, and decided to check it out. After a fairly long drive just to get there, I aired down the tires and went out on the dunes to try it out. Here are few pics. White Wash Sand Dunes are approximately 60 miles northwest of Moab, Utah.
