Located about 12 miles south of I-70 in central Utah is a small drainage draw or wash named White Wash. The name comes from a distinctive white alkaline color to the dirt. Further downstream, the wash begins cutting through an orange colored sandstone. It is at this point some sand dunes are encountered. The federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) administers the area and has allowed OHV use. Its a very remote, desolate area. Parts of it resembled what the planet Mars must look like. But the color of the orange sand was interesting.

I have never visited this area before, and decided to check it out. After a fairly long drive just to get there, I aired down the tires and went out on the dunes to try it out. Here are few pics. White Wash Sand Dunes are approximately 60 miles northwest of Moab, Utah.

@RojStock Ha! Yes I wish it were a perpetual vacation. I guess that will come a ways down the (off-) road (no pun) when the retirement age eventually hits. :)
I took two separate trips last month in May. Both trips had quite a few different destinations. June and July, unfortunately, are back at work months. The slow feeding of the pics help me reminisce about some fun times... :)

Man I wish 'Michigan was about 20 hours closer to Utah. Thanks for sharing your great adventures. We have been to Moab at least half dozen times and have not even come close to seeing it all. Any jobs (well paying) out there!

Many thanks for the photos. Looks like a great spot to visit, but our summer plans are made. We'll be visiting some of the wilder areas of British Columbia and may even spot a grizzly bear, but from a distance I hope. Cheers - Ted

nice report!

always a favorite topic on the forum... what did you air down to? Was the sand very deep? And since you made no note of problems... we can assume the TH raged in there?

Aired down to 21-15 psi. The TH went over some fairly low dunes, no problem. I had camping gear in the back, so I was not as light as I could have been, but still did ok. It was a blast!
