So I know that you can order ventilated seats on the limiteds. how do those of you that have them feel they work? Will they loose effectiveness because the perforations in the seat get dirt in, is there an easy way to clean it out (obviously a vacuum would work, but any other methods?).

Ventilated seats are the main reason I purchased the Limited, and I'm very happy I have them. They are interesting in that they are not a strong blast of cold air, but instead almost suck the heat away from your body, and cool it at the same time. Subtle but highly effective! I do not use them every time I run the AC, but since purchasing my Cherokee in March, I've had the drivers side on at least a dozen times. Good question about clogging the holes- I think I'll purchase a handheld vacuum and use it on the seats at least once a week.

Definitely an option on the 2015 Trailhawk, however I haven't seen any information on pricing.

I didn't get them- I've dealt with hot leather for the past few years- didn't seem worth the extra waiting (for a 2015 TH, no intentions of purchasing a Limited) or the extra cash to me.

The ventilated seats work great; they help cool you off a lot faster and you don't have to blast the air in the car at the max to get the same cooling effect. In that sense it's probably a bit better on your engine and might equate to a slight improvement in MPG.

I never even gave a thought about the perforations clogging when I bought it. Perforated leather is pretty common, and the little perforations getting clogged isn't something I've heard a whole lot of complaints about. The only things I can think of that would get in there are dirt that happens to be on your clothing (solution: ride around in your Jeep naked?), sand, and maybe leather lotion if you're not careful about applying it when you moisturize the leather. But I mean, what else is gonna get in there to clog up the system?

I vacuum my car on a weekly basis at the very least, which includes a full pass over the seats, so I'm not concerned about anything building up and clogging its pores that would lessen the effectiveness of it. I think that's part of it too; I know some people probably don't even vacuum their cars but once a month, and that's a concept as foreign to me as having a baby.

At the end of the day, I'm very pleased with the ventilated seats, and I wouldn't choose a car in the future without it. One thing to note, my mom's Infiniti M has ventilated seats, and I don't like the feature in her car because it makes a rather audible hissing sound. There is no such sound in my Jeep, and my car was 20k less than hers. I was concerned about the hissing sound when I saw that Jeep offered the feature on the Limited trim, but once I sat in the car and turned it on I was fine because it doesn't hiss, and when I drive I have music on anyway so I won't hear it either way. That was one potential downside for me that turned out not to be an issue. But again as for the system getting clogged up, I never even thought of that; maybe because I consider weekly vacuum part of a car's general maintenance, who knows.

Well crap...I probably would have opted for them on 14TH if they had em. But alas...I finished a round of golf in 102 temps just a bit ago and my back was stuck to the seat on my way to Five Guys.

I think it depends what leather package you get. If you get the Limited, and the Luxury Package, that upgrades the leather to perforated Napa leather. only the front two seats are ventilated, but the leather is perforated on ALL the seats, including the rear.

High-quality Napa leather option is only on Limited, so I don't think any other trim has perforated leather. I believe the Napa is the only leather that is perforated. The lower quality leather package isn't.

Update on the ventilated seats: I live on the coast, and drove inland to work today. As soon as I felt the temperature rising, I hit the vent button and (after reading & commenting on this thread last night) really paid attention to how quickly the seats cooled me down. It took just a few short minutes and I felt so much better. I was able to arrive at my destination cool and calm, which is a stark contrast to any previous vehicle that I have owned.
I highly recommend this feature to anyone who is considering the ventilated seats. :)

Just wanted to follow up now that I have my TH. Vented seats.... love em! Like others have stated they are not very stong. I wish there was a little more air pressure to em but I'm not dissapointed at all. I will say that I have had ZERO issues with sweat or stickness when I pop it on high... which is every time I get in lol. Don't see the point in low.

Sometimes that thing can get a bit nippy down under if you are wearing thin pants, shorts, or if wife is wearing a thin little silk number... then low is nice!

We have ventilated seats in my wife's TH. I sometimes forget about them as my daily driver doesn't have them. Sure does help to cool you off while you wait for the A/C to cool off the interior.

I wonder about their effectiveness over time as the perforations get clogged with dirt that might not come out with a simple vacuuming.

The other my friend dropped some tiny pieces of chocolate and clogged 3 holes. I used (carefully) a clothespin through the holes and it removed the melted chocolate very good.

For my future reference, can you explain what kind of clothespin, or did you mean toothpick?

Edit: That's okay, you were probably referring to this...

and I was visualizing this...

I use a shop vac wet/dry vac and foaming cleaner and a toothbrush where needed... mud comes right out usually... not sure about chocolate

I love my vented seats. A friend of mine had them in his F150 and after riding in it I promised myself my next car would have them. In Florida, it's a god send and exponentially more useful than heated seats.

It takes a bit to get used to them. At first, you kind of get the feeling you wet your pants...

Personally, I don't really care about the vented seats....I've used them a grand total of twice in the last year. The only reason I got them was because it was the only way to get the memory seat option which was absolutely mandatory given the wife and I have drastically different driving positions.

The ventilated seats... well not bad but I seldom use them, sort of a luxury thing. Could live without them perfectly. But I agree with the poster above: memory seat is great as it not only keeps the settings for the seats but also radio presets and mirrors. I went for a limited for 3 reasons: 200hp diesel with shocking economy, memory seat and xenon lights.

Would have went for a TH if diesel was available...

Actually they are very subtle in operation.
Can not even tell they are on.
A couple hours of continuous driving is where I notice the difference from my last vehicle.
I do not get damp or sticky any more. Adds a lot to comfort of driving this vehicle on trips.

I've never heard the ventilated seat fan. Mine is set to come on automatically. I notice it's on because my butt feels cool and confirm by seeing the icon lit on the head unit.
