Mine is 2014 and I had a battery issue (the battery died or was bad and it was a new battery) and I after getting it fixed the radio wouldn’t work right. I thought it was trying to update one time because when I would get in and start my Jeep the radio would come on after it wasn’t coming on at all. It would work while I had it on but as soon as I shut it off the radio wouldn’t work again next time I would start it up. I have Wi-Fi at home so I thought maybe it was trying to update itself. But now it won’t come on at all and I had a message to update it and or call Jeep dealer. There is an update available posted when I go to unconnect site but I can’t do it on my phone or laptop. It says I have to use desktop computer to DL to usb stick. I don’t own a desktop computer so I guess I am stuck until I can pay the dealer to update it for me. Been without it for several months now and it’s driving me crazy lol.

Have you tried to download it to a blank USB from the laptop. It should work.
Well I typed in my vin on unconnect on laptop and it didn’t give me the update note. It just returned me to the same page of putting in vin to find updates. When I use my phone (🍎) it takes me straight to update available page and says update ready for DL. When I click on select available update button it takes me to a page that says have to update using a blank usb on desktop computer. I don’t know why it shows up on my phone but not any other device I have used. I tried my other phone before this one that I have now and it does the same thing the laptop does. It’s confusing and frustrating.

Yes they do on 2019's and newer. They are coming through right now. Mine did it last week...😎
But you have Uconnect with Navigation built in, right? If you don't have Nav, like me, then you'll never see an over the air update.

In the other thread I see a Canada version, but still not sure what the
latest US version is? Wonder if mine hasn't come through since I park
in a garage? It's cell, not XM so it should work.....

Reference Post #3:
A bad battery or replacing the battery has no effect on the radio.
If the battery replacement caused a problem there would be a lot more systems that would be affected.
If the battery cable clamps are not secure it would cause general electrical problems, not solely with the radio.
Tell the people that replaced your battery they broke your radio. That discussion won't get you anywhere.
I always have my Jeep dealer install my new battery, if there is a problem they can deal with it, so far there has never been a problem.
Apparently your radio does not work at all, or it is intermittent or what? Updates will not fix the radio.
Your radio should work just fine without any updates. When the radio starts working correctly then you may consider updates.
If you decide to do updates the radio must be working correctly.
Get a SanDisk 4GB USB flash drive. Format the flash drive to FAT32. Make sure there are no files on the flash drive.
The only file that should be on the flash drive when you do the update is SWDL.ISO
Anybody can download the Uconnect update file from driveuconnect.com and save it to your flash drive if they have your VIN.
If your radio works then find the software version you are using on your radio. I think it is in Apps.
Updates need to be done in a certain specific order.
I have done every update to my 2014 TH. I had the instructions and everything worked. But it was brutal. Not good for my blood pressure one little bit.
You could try a soft reset for your radio, if that doesn't work try a hard reset. There are instructions on this Forum. If that doesn't work see your Jeep dealer.
A Uconnect 8.4A/8.4AN Owner's Manual Supplement (paper bound book) came with your Jeep, it may or may not be useful.
I am not sure I understand your situation so the above dissertation may or may not apply.

Yes, but still not sure what is different. It sure wasn't a Nav update, they charge $100 for those. I keep getting emails from Mopar about that, telling me what a great deal it is. I wouldn't pay $25 for any Nav update, since Google Maps updates almost daily, for free...I've actually only used mine like twice. I already know the way from sea to shining sea...LOL!!!😎

If you have the Uconnect with Nav. No automatic update on my 21 TH no Nav in mine. If I'm wrong let me know.

Everyone assumes everyone has the same options in their cars.
I don't know who's supposed to get them, or what exactly updated. All I do know is mine did one. As far as the pre 2019's, I don't think they have the capability anymore, since they communicated on the now defunct 3G network...😎

Do you have built in navigation in you Uconnect? This is what I'm trying to get across. The couple of posts I saw where they posted a picture they had built in Navigation,

Folks keep saying hay I got an update for my Uconnect today , But they don't tell whether they have Nav. or not. The folks with nav. have 4g I would assume so that they their cars are always connected.

Alls good. I know my Jeep won't be getting the update unless the dealer does it. :ROFLMAO:

Not sure, but go into the Apps and see if you have WiFi Hotspot.
My "new" head unit was only showing 3G, but is now 4G. I have
Nav, but like many on here don't really use it. I'm not sure if the Nav
is the only thing that uses the modem. Does XM/Guardian use it???
SOS, Assist, Etc? I don't know anyone that has ever used those
buttons on the mirror, but I assume they would need a modem?

The software version is the same that came with the new head unit last year.

^Still running Windows 95...

Thanks for the info. I don't know if my TH has wifi hot spot . I'll have to check tomorrow. I know it doesn't have the buttons on the mirror.

I've seen enough posts on this forum to confirm that the Uconnect units without Navigation (like mine) do NOT have any cellular capabilities, therefore they will never receive an over the air update.

Meanwhile, on my 2019 the Uconnect web site says my Uconnect software is up to date, so in 4+ years there has never been an update released for it.

Yeah I've had 1, (2?) OTA update since 2018. You're right, the web site says
I'm always "up to date." If I can find out what the newest version is, maybe
I can force feed it? Or just leave the stupid thing alone since it works!

driveuconnect only tells you the latest update available for your VIN, it doesn't have any idea what has been installed. (unless you know something I don't).
The vehicle Uconnect Apps tab will eventually tell what software version is actually installed.
I have an entire 3-ring notebook devoted to all of the updates, all the technical information I can find and all of the update instructions for every software version I have installed.
It is a good thing I take good notes because I don't have a clue how it all works.
All of the updates have been a challenge even with the step by step instructions.
Thank goodness there will never be any more OTA or thumb drive updates for my 2014.
I definitely don't have navigation, I use a real GPS receiver for navigation.
