Hi all

I was looking thru the cherokee users guide and read somewhere about downloading apps to the cherokee connect system. Can someone tell me what they are talking about here please?

Web based apps for your car that you can download to your smart phone. It requires that you pay for the monthly uconnect access service. They allow you to control certain features of your car from the phone.
Along those same lines, what exactly is the Uconnect monthly charge for? I would not be doing anything with apps. The Uconnect site isn't really that specific as to what one gets with the service.
I believe it actives the cell and even the ability to use the u-connect system as a wifi hotspot.
Does anyone know if you can just pay for the remote start app. That's the only thing I would use and it isn't worth $20 per month. I have seen other remote start apps (viper) for after market starters that only have a monthly fee of $5 per month.

The dealer said it was free for a year with my order and I have a feeling I will love it (I have the same type of thing with my Encore) but only use the remote start in the winter... -and it's definitely not worth $20 a month after the first year for just that... Maybe I should research more what the difference is between that one and Uconnect...
Just tested out the uconnect app for smartphones. I was able to start the cherokee, though it took about 2 mins for the signal to go through. my phone BBz10

I signed up on the Uconnect website. It is only free for 6 months. Just an FYI...
thanks for the heads up trosy, i didn't notice this. I was told it was free for a year from the dealer as well.

Don't know if I will be paying for the service. My car will be parked close enough to just use the keys to remote start. most of the "apps" are "comming soon" All that I see available now are weather, traffic, sports, gas, movies.

Anyone seeing anything that is unique and useful? I am not that familiar with it yet.

Don't hold me to it, but I think that there is a text feature to it as well where it will read your text messages to you and you can just speak to compose a text as well. I think that is a part of the Uconnect.

Ummm. I will have to look at my sticker. When I registered online it was 6 months.
Some window stickers say 6 months and some say 1 year...
