Hello, new to this forum & looking for help with the new uconnect update.
I followed directions and downloaded to a usb. When I try to load it into my 2017 Jeep Cherokee, it says 'files not supported'.
I have searched for solutions and have done everything I can find. I added one item at a time to the usb and tried to load it that way. Same files not supported message no matter what I try. It is a new usb, no other files on it.
Please give me any suggestions. This is driving me crazy!
Does anyone know what the update does? It says it's for the GPS. Do I even need it? It is update 18.45.01.
Thanks for any help!

Hi, I'm sorry you're having issues with the download. Can you please confirm that you're using a USB larger than 4GB? We would recommend using the Kingston brand for the best results.

Got another usb and it finally worked!
One comment for late readers: I've found that USB 2.0 flash drives work better than USB 3.0/3.1 drives in the Jeeps.
Thanks for the heads up Kim. Had a few problems but eventually got it updated. Web page indicated there was an update available for my VIN so I followed instructions and downloaded the file to my download folder. Then I decided to try the download to a USB drive. Three tries and kept getting a "files not supported" error message. Looked in my downloads folder on the computer and the Windows 10 system had unzipped the file and showed 5 files. I copied them to a USB drive and it worked. The update took 25 minutes and showed 14 units updating. Updated system from 17.43.01 to 18.45.01. Do not turn off your radio or engine until you get a final message that the update is complete. Prior to that it will look like it is done after the final unit is updated but there is still updating going on in the background but don't turn off the system. Park your Jeep outside and shut everything off. Plug in the USB drive and restart. You should be prepared to sit and let the Jeep idle for 25 or so minutes till the update is complete.

Checked the Uconnect web site and an update is available for my VIN.
Updated Uconnect from 17.43.01 to 18.45.01, uneventful update.
I have a 2014 V6 TH with Uconnect 8.4A build date 1/4/2014.
Downloaded the file to a USB 2.0 thumb drive using Windows 10 Pro and Google Chrome.
Extracted the files and copied swdl.upd to the thumb drive.
Printed and followed the instructions from the Uconnect web site.
Read the log file on the thumb drive and everything seemed to work ok.
Tried to use the Yelp app but the Service is not available, probably because I don't have navigation.
The whole exercise took about 45 minutes, my TH still runs so I am good.
Probably has something to do with the GPS losing its mind after the Daylight savings time update. Mine has lost its mind unfortunately. All old iphones also had this problems apparently. Sounds like I will need to download this as well.

Who knows? It's apparently too much trouble for FCA to take 10 seconds to issue a note stating what the updates change.

I have the Yelp app on Uconnect but the service is not available.
I suspect I need navigation for it to work. Just searched the Internet, I need navigation.
Can someone enlighten me on this technology?
It was a significant update, the file is huge.
Does the update add any noteworthy functions?
I did the update over the air with no issues but I don't know what was done and to what benefit to me.
I have had similar issue recently with the gps. The car tracks through woods and lakes and the vocal prompts do not respond. Is there a way for me to reset the gps somehow? I don’t see it in the manual.

What system software are you running? If it's below 18.45.01, you probably are experiencing the GPS rollover bug. Go to driveuconnect.com > Support > Software Update and check for the latest software.
I have tried twice to update. Two different flash drives and lots of time. Navigation screen will not load at all. Shows the blue globe and does nothing. Uconnect customer service has been awful and I was scolded by the last rep. Dealers don’t have appointments available so upset.

What exactly are you updating? System software or map database? The GPS rollover bug is fixed by updating the system software.

Hi, it sounds like your Uconnect system needs to be updated. The files for software level 18.45.01 are currently available on driveUconnect.com. This update will ensure proper GPS functionality. I would recommend checking if this update is available for your vehicle. If so, you will be able to download the software to a USB and update your vehicle at home. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Received a phone call from UConnect and he left a voice mail.
Basically they want you to do the update so GPS navigation will work correctly.
I have already done the update and I don't have navigation so I will just ignore this.
If I have any questions I am to call 1-877-855-8400.
I don't have any questions so I am not going to call.
Is this phone call legitimate or is it a scam?
The caller ID was "800 SERVICE" which is definitely a scam.
Checked the UConnect web site and the phone number is for "Uconnect®—General Support".
Checked the VIN numbers, and it says up to date? Must be
a pre-2018 update???

Nope, I also have a 2018 and needed the update. They're obviously having problems with their database as mine also said it was up to date when I checked the VIN, but it was still running the older software and NAV was out of whack.

Check your system software to see what version you are running. If it's under 18.45.01, you need the update. In my case, I had 17.43.01 installed, but the website said I was up to date. I had to open a case with Uconnect support and have it escalated to get someone with more than 3 active brain cells to make the update available for my VIN. Once they did and I updated, all my NAV issues went away.
