After spending some time with my Uconnect Access and my unlimited data iPhone, it seems the only added feature I get is the ability to lock and unlock, and blow the horn.....
I don't have remote start
I already have Iheart on my phone
I already have voice-text recognition on my phone that works better than the Uconnect version. iPhone got it every time, I am always correcting the Uconnect
I can do roadside assist, 911, yelp, etc from my phone....
I have Rhapsody on my phone

maybe theft tracking but given that, it would have to be a few bucks a month for me to buy the service when the free period is up.....

given that, even sat radio is a bit expensive when I compare to iPhone Rhapsody that I already have...

am I missing something or do I have it all in my phone.....?

Well I'll tell ya what...If you look at it as a comparision perspective, I think Uconnect blows away the competition. I had Sync in my 2011 Mustang, that was garbage. My father's new BMW'S System is way to complicated. Yeah these features maybe on our iPhones, but the whole benefit of Uconnect is that it makes the use of the features much easier on a big touchscreen...Just my insight =]

maybe I wasn't clear, I love Uconnect, It's "Uconnect Access" that is $20/month after the trial period that I see little value in....

Ahh I see. I guess that would just depend on people's preference. There are some features that I definitly use that are cool like the Weather and Sports Apps. But I see your point, is it really worth the $20 a month. That's not even something I am sure about for myself

They only thing I can see that is usefull is the ability to unlock the doors remotely if you need too.
i haven't tested unlocking/locking, but their website states that it may take 3 min or longer for remote start to activate. pretty much bittersweet.

Once i read that, I was contemplating on deleting the app. I kept it just in case, but in reality...seems like i won't be needing it.

Even though mine has an automatic starter already, I use the app quite often. If i am paying a bill at a restaurant or leaving a mall, I know that by the time I get out there in say 10-15 minutes the jeep will be nice and warm for me. I do this instead of the starter when it is out of range

I'm wondering also about whether or not to activate the Uconnect trial. I started to read their terms of service and finally figured it would take most of the day to wade through all the legalese and then probably wouldn't understand most of it. As I recall there was quite a bit in there about tracking you, storing data and sharing with Chrysler. I also understand there is a "black box" in the car that also records and stores data that can be used in event of an accident. My thoughts are that if for some unknown reason you ran low on oil or were doing something else you could kiss your warranty or insurance coverage goodbye. I have no need for remote door locking or engine start and only have a small, simple cell phone anyway. I imagine that the assist/9-1-1 and theft tracking functions might be handy if you were out in the boonies, out of cell phone coverage and needed help with a breakdown or accident. I'm a little nervous about being tracked and monitored even though I don't do anything illegal. I just don't know if I need the service or even how much it would cost me at the end of the trial period.

you can skip the credit card part of the trial sign up so it will expire......at least, that's what I think I did!

Black boxes or EDRs (Event Data Recorders) have been used for a while in many cars but get used to it because a law has been passed and every new car must have one starting in 2015. I think the law passed, not positive.

as far as the remote start via the app... i'm still getting used to the touch less enter and go and the locks.. several occasions i've found myself already a long way from my car and unable to remember if i locked it... the app is very handy then. also, took a chance when mountian biking today. didnt want to risk losing my key while on the trail so i locked it in the car and used the app to unlock the car when i returned.

(with the key inside the car, lock the doors then close them. it wont allow you to use the keyless entry if the key is inside the vehicle)

If you leave your keys in the car and lock the door won't the EVIC display the instructions to start the car? If so that would be a hint for a car thief to jump at the opportunity.
