UConnect cost

Does anybody know the subscription price once the trial runs out? I went on the website; it tells you the Wi-Fi hotspot cost, but not the cost of UConnect access. At least, I couldn't find it.

Just looked at the wesbite, and its a little vague......maybe they leave the subscription to the dealers....

You can register for a free trial....I dare say from there you can find out the cost...

Sucks we dont get this in Canada

When I asked Jeep Customer Service they told me it was $20 a month when the trial subscription runs out. At that price not sure if I am going to renew.
Yea i have seen its $20/month also. Kind of crazy pricing if you ask me, I think this is exactly the type of annoying crap Apple is trying to kill by entering the car computer market (slowly).

There is no reason they could not take this further right now, and allow people to register your own SIM card within the vehicle, adding it as another device on your AT&T / Verizon plan. Sure you would need the right GSM/CDMA radio, but that would make more sense than charging such a high price for a 3G modem, that you may only use for 10 hours a month.

Most phones can act as a hotspot too, so no need for that nonsense.

I think most trial periods are for 6 months, has anyone done better?

I'm trying to understand the value. $20 bucks a month seems pretty steep for the ability to use my phone as a key fob. Don't get me wrong, I think that's cool, but not 20 bucks a month cool.

What else do you get for that money? I haven't even been able to get the messages feature to work with my iphone... please help me understand the value piece of this equation.

I am going to keep it after the 1 year free trial, for the remote start from my phone and voice texting.

6 months is the trial period for UConnect without Nav.
For the Nav version is 12 months.
I doubt I will renew unless it's under $50 a year.

So iPhone users can't use voice text messaging, and the other features are basically lo-jack type stuff... theft tracking, 911, remote start, etc...

But, the strange thing is that they talk about SiriusXM w/ Traffic and stuff as part of UConnect... Yet, my understanding is that I need to pay SiriusXM separately for that. I'm pretty confused.
Interesting discussion, now do you need to pay a monthly fee to be able to use the Navigation system ? And what about updating the Navigation data is it free or we buy a garmin update?
There's a difference between UConnect, and UConnect Access, which is the subscription service.

Yes, $20 a month is out to lunch for remote start and A/C, which is all I'm really interested in. And Wi-Fi hotspot is additional. And satellite radio is also additional, but at least I see myself using that.

Thanks guys... gonna pass on Access.

It's getting close to the Gillette scenario: They make their money on blades/software, not the razor/car. Pretty soon it'll be cheaper to buy a new car with the free trials than update/subscribe to data.

Actually, I've been known to buy new inkjet printers as it's cheaper than replacing the ink cartridges! Same thing with cordless phones; cheaper to buy new than replace the batteries.
I also would like to know if nav services are free and independent of UConnect and Sirius traffic etc. The sales guy went in confusing circles, either trying to make me think it's all free once you pay for the features in the car (except Sirius), or he was clueless and didn't want to admit it.

I'm close to skipping all options on a Limited other than the V6 as things I can live without - then pocket the thousands for pan roof, luxury, nav etc. The one other extra that would be a priority might be NAV, but not if it requires a subscription.

If you are getting the Limited with Nav there are subscription costs involved with the Nav. You also get traffic updates through Sirius free for life. The rest of Sirius after a year you will have to pay for.
Uconnect is separate than the above...

Thx Sailor. Are the NAV subscription costs just when you update the system, or a monthly fee for the satellite part? Maybe I'd rather have the luxury group for the sweet seats.
I was told you get Nav without UConnect subscription. Only have to pay for updates if one chooses. The $20 monthly was what I was told as well but I just assumed Sirus was included in that which if so not too bad but if not, I probably will not renew either. My guy suggested just calling up in winter months if so desire and ask for trial subscription. Got 10 months to worry about that with the 1 year free trial.

Updating the Nav is free. Uconnect subscription costs are after a free year trial but have nothing to do with the Nav and you don't have to continue that service.

Looking at the UCONNECT website, my understanding is that nav is independent of what they offer. Looks like you get theft tracking, 911, some apps (which I don't understand why I wouldn't just stream through Bluetooth), remote start, remote A/C, hands-free texting, and Wi-Fi hotspot (for yet another fee).

I don't suppose UConnect and/or NAV can be added later?

Uconnect comes with it in a Limited model. As far as the Nav If the radio comes as nav ready then yes it can be added later.
