I've been waiting for Pandora integration!
But being available through Uconnect Access, I wonder if that means I wouldn't be able to use it after the UC Access trial period unless I decide to pay the $20/month later on?

Correct, you'll need to pay. I will renew the services after the 1 year trial.

I'm not seeing any good reason to use Uconnect for Pandora.

I downloaded the app on my iPhone, connected it via Bluetooth and fired up Pandora. Nothing happened on Uconnect. My iPhone shows it's sending to Uconnect, but there's nothing happening on Uconnect. Pandora doesn't show in the apps section.

But if I connect my iPhone via USB cable I can operate Pandora just fine. It shows the song and art on the console and the steering wheel commands work, outside Uconnect.

I assume that when my phone answers via Bluetooth and I talk through the audio system, that's also happening in Bluetooth and not via Uconnect. What exactly is Uconnect doing other than letting me lock my Jeep with the iPhone?

Try Slacker it's better than Pandora in my opinion. I haven't tried it with the uconnect yet since I just updated the app, I will try it later when I run to the dealer to pick up my plates.

For me $20/month is way too much... I won't subscribe after the trial. So I guess I will give it a try to the updated UC Access app but long term would be using a USB cable as @LeCreaux if that gives me the most integration with the radio.

For what Jeep is offering they really should NOT charge anything. The only useful function is the remote start and stop from your smart phone. But even that app is so rudimentary that I would never pay for it.

Jeep needs to rethink their value proposition. As it stands right now, even $10 would be too much for the UConnect Access.

I had read somewhere they may offer different pkgs at cheaper rates...the other nice thing besides the remote features is live traffic, not really worth $20/mo though to me

I stopped using the built-in navigation system and replaced it with a new Garmin mounted on the dash. Lifetime maps and traffic, transferred all my previous POIs, connects via Bluetooth to an iPad/iPhone app. The app uses Google and sends POIs to the Garmin. I won't be paying for Uconnect nor Sirius XM traffic when they expire.

Also had Mopar EVTS installed for GPS tracking and notifications. If anything bumps my Trailhawk when it's parked I get a notification. Plus I can see its location on a web-based map when my daughter is driving it (and a history), and I get a notice if it goes over the speed limit.

$20 I think is over-priced but at $10 that would be worth it, the stolen vehicle assist lowered our insurance to offset the costs.

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but I'm wondering if anyone is using UConnect Access to remote start their KL.

I set up the trial last night, went in the house, and tried to start my Cherokee. It started alright, after about 5-7 minutes. Same delay with flashing the horn/lights. Is this SOP for the app? If so, it's pretty poor engineering. . .

Yep. Seems it should be faster but it usually takes about 5 min for me too.

Yes it takes that long I'm not sure if part of it is that it gets the request then has to establish connection with the 3G sim and handle whatever authentication that would be required. I think though once it has a connection it seems to me I was able to send signals to lock unlock while the car was auto started and it was almost real time.

Yup, that's normal. It's kind of an insult that they expect people to pay $15 to $20 a month but can't figure out how to get it to work faster. My wife's Explorer has the same functionality, but only takes about 10 seconds for the car to respond. And they only charge $50 a year.

Thanks for the responses. I won't be subscribing once the trial expires.

The apps will continue working after your UCONNECT subscription expires. But the remote start, lock & unlock, and Horns and Lights will not work via the Uconnect App after it expires.

The reason why they charge is because there is actually a 3G Sprint cell phone built into your car. Because that cellphone actually has its own cell phone number (you will never find out what it is) and because it uses the cell service it costs money.

No it is NOT worth $20 a month, but did come in handy for the cold weather we had this year. :)
