Per the jeep website:
All FWD are listed at 5.7"
4x4 are listed at 7.9" for the Sport (ADI) and 8.2" for the Latitude/Limited (ADI or ADII?)
Trailhawk is 8.8"

I dont know what they are listing there as far as ADI or ADII, the Sport only comes in ADI so that makes me think 7.9" is for all ADI...but the extra .3" for the other two isnt close to the 1" the off road suspension is supposed to give...so not sure if that 8.2" is ADII or not, but it would make sense that it is ADII since its .6" shorter than the TH...hmm
I would assume some of the overall clearance at curb weight has to do with the weight of the vehicle. The 1" suspension lift on a TH or ADII 4x4 probably doesn't ultimately lead to 1" ground clearance increase due to overall weight of the vehicle. Bottom line - all the 4x4s have decent clearance, with the TH probably having the most actual and useful clearance, though the ADII equipped Latitudes and Limiteds come close.

To be honest, having never considered getting a 4x2, I'm shocked that there's a 2.5-3 inch clearance difference between that and the 4x4/TH.

I'm a bit lost. Are you guys saying that the 4x4s have over 2.5 inches more clearance than front wheel drives?? I thought all Cherokees are same height unless you get the ADII package or Trailhawk in which case they are about an inch higher up.

Someone please explain as simple as you can

Yeah. The FWD are much lower. I pulled up next to a Sport at the dealership in my TH and it was amazing how low it was, as I didnt realize there was a difference between ADI and FWD as far as clearance.

Good call 99TJ on weight factoring in.

Yes: The 4x4 models have a higher clearance than the 4x2. The reason is simple - the 4x4 system takes up more space under the Jeep than a 4x2 system, thus requiring a higher ride. There may be some additional lift just to provide offroad capability too, but the space is the practical reason.

The ADII system (only available on 4x4 models) provides yet an additional inch of suspension lift (lift related to the springs, struts, etc.) That additional inch leads to greater clearance, though not necessarily a full inch. The TH models come standard with AD-LOCK, providing both the extra clearance, and additional off-road capabilities.

I wasn't talking about comparing trailhawks to FWDs, I know the THs are taller for sure

I was talking about let's say pulling up in lattitude 4x4 next to a FWD sport.

Same thing. Ive seen a TH next to an ADI and there is a difference...but next to the FWD was dramatic, almost like being next to a sedan.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info.
Back to the topic of True Blue.. Im having second thoughts about going with black for my lattitude. I like the blue but I just can't shake the hint of purple I saw on the blue in the lot when the sun was shining down on it. Wish it was just a navy blue color but it's really not

I have to agree with you... I was looking at the Bright White and True Blue (2 colors I really liked) But when the sun was beaming down on the True Blue in the parking lot, I was definetly seeing some "Purpleish hues" and that was enough for me to go with the White. The salesman said that people have been saying the same thing, but it is because of the Metallic Flakes in the True Blue that pick up/refract light differently.

I have the blue. Once in a "blue" moon the sun hits in a certain way that make it look a little different (sparkle). The other 99% of time it looks like a Midnight Blue.

No regrets, would pick same color again. Have in Latitude and think looks very sharp with chrome grill and silver roof rack.

Here's two shots under direct bright sunlight - about an hour before sunset, so pretty low on the horizon. You can see the sparkles, but still doesn't look purple to me.

Thanks for posting, I have a RAM 1500 Limited in True Blue and there is no purple, it's simply thanks to the pearlescent paint

I like the fact that there are a few options for interior color. I like the brown and blue it was a top contender when I was considering a LTD. Is it just me or would that color combo look even better with the bronze dash inserts. (instead of the silver)

I'll update with my true blue as soon as the wife lets me drive it. I'm not sure if the custody papers say I get it this weekend or next.

And here's mine. Finally after 16 weeks. My original order for Eco Green went in on 12/27/13.

Although very disappointed in the experience, very pleased with the vehicle thus far.

I've got True Blue. Was torn between that and the Mango. I do believe in a perfect situation it can have a touch of a purple hue to it but the lighting has to be exact. I like how it varies in different lighting conditions.

Now if they had just made a Hydro Blue like in the Wranglers THAT would've been sweet!
