Jeep has confirmed that the software fix has been found.
It is currently being applied to the Cherokee (flash update in about 30 minutes), then the vehicle will be run for 2-3 miles on a test course. After that, the cherokee will be shipped.

"New Cherokees coming from the Toledo plant are presumably going directly to shipping yards for transport to dealerships". Sounds like new one come off the line don't have to go through the update and test...

Yep! Mine is in that group! Can't wait! I'm in Cleveland, a couple hours from Toledo, so it'll be interesting to see how long it takes to arrive at my dealer once shipped.

Makes me feel a little better about not being built yet. I really hoping to see movement within the next few days

Great news! Can't wait until they get them out.

The wait has been annoying, but you have to give props to Jeep for making sure that everything is perfect before sending it out.
Yeah we really do, I guess they're learning from other car makers that have not done this and paid big time. Some new cars are bad enough that theres a lot of them being sent back as lemons.

Yeah, I think they are viewing this as such a pivotal car for the company that they couldn't afford to have a bunch of lemons that could turn people off to the Cherokee for years to come. If it came out and got a rep as a poor vehicle right from the start, it might not recover for a while, especially since it's already controversial.

Yup, thats exactly what it is.
It's the best possible thing to do even though they're losing out now by delaying them, but in the long run it will pay off.

Exactly, the best as a manufacturer to gain the best reputation is to be proactive and this is a good example of it. Have you guys heard of the horror stories on the Nissan pathfinder. Luckily we dont have to go through it.. crossing fingers!
