Hello I just purchased 2019 Trail Hawk, Tow hooks did not come with since previous owner had installed a flat towing system. Is there a way to get new ones and put them in the blue Ox base plate, or has any one made some kind of hook that would be able to be inserted into a the base plate holes? Thanks in advance :)

Where are you at? I still have the original hooks, extensions, and H/W that came off when my Blue Ox baseplate was installed.

Blue Ox doesn't recommend using the baseplate as a recovery point (I asked), but I have used the safety eyelets with a soft shackle with no issues. If someone did make a recovery hook that went into the receiver I'd be all over that!

You have to remove the base plate, then put the hooks back in where they go. You will need the hooks, and the bolt that goes on the back. You have to take the front bumper off to do it. Its not hard though. I did it on mine when I bout it as well.

Thank you so much, that is probably what I will end up doing. Just surprised they don't make something to just fit in there when not in use.

Not sure if you absolutely need them, but the aluminum frame extensions come off for the Blue Ox baseplate install. It helps support the facia. The baseplate takes over that duty.

I don't see any way that could be attached unless the baseplate is removed and a mount is fabricated. Keep in mind the baseplate occupies the strongest part of the front end.

You don't need the extensions. They don't' actually touch the bumper. Its only to reduce the impact in a front end crash. I haven't had any issues with them off.

I designed and 3D printed decorative tow hooks for my 2022 Trailhawk with the Blue Ox baseplate. As others have said, I really liked the look of those red hooks and missed them when I went to flat tow. My new ones are lightweight plastic and could never be used for actual towing or recovery. I use a 1/4" lock pin to hold them in place so it is very easy to remove them when I tow behind my motorhome.

Those are nice! Now if we could get someone to make some that were functional! I asked Blue Ox about recovering from the attachment tab receiver and of course, they said they didn't recommend it. However, if the vehicle can be towed 1,000's of miles from those points including some rather violent starts/stops, I don't see why they couldn't be used. In fact, I've used a soft shackle through the safety cable hookup a couple of times with no issues.

I thought about getting an extra set of attachment tabs and making a custom recovery point, but what can I say? I'm lazy.
