Hi, i am looking to replace my missing tow hooks on my 2019 TH, puchaced with two bar installed. I have them now welded and want to paint bed liner red. Any suggestions on what paint to use? TIA.

Interesting mod. I have thought about that too....but a little worried that the baseplate maybe not up for a tow hook like that. I would find a Line-X shop to paint them. Line-X is real tuff finish. Good luck.

I really like the look, proabaly wont pull much with them but didnt want to remove the tow bar incase future camper purchase . Thank you for the suggestion.

Just FYI I wanted to paint my brake calipers the same color as the tow hooks and I called Jeep and they would not tell me the paint or color used. "proprietary" so unless you know someone who works in supply chain for Jeep and can get you a contact to the manufacturer of the tow hooks we will never know.

My body shop uses a meter the measure the color on my Jeep so they can repaint the body part the same color.
They mix their own paint colors. If you want to match the bed liner, they can do.
If you want to match the TH hook colors they can measure a TH hook and do it.
I would probably go cheap and use red Plasti-dip.

That is sad they dont make and sale the color because alot of people would like to re paint the tow hooks after they get scraped up.

FCA also does not have a paint code for the Mopar rock rails.
The 'trick' is to paint them with a known color spray paint before you install them, then you can touch them up with the same color.
I didn't figure that out until it was too late.
I am not into 'pretty', rusty scratches look good to me. Imagine the damage if I didn't have rock rails.

I worked on the body shop side of the shop, but the paint shop had a camera they used to match any color. Now, this was almost 20 years ago and I can't for the life of me remember its name. We only used PPG if that helps narrow it down.

Get a can of Rustoleum in red. No one will look close enough to know the difference anyway. As for concern on baseplate being able to handle it, the base plates are installed to the same frame location as the tow hooks, and must withstand pulling and lateral forces of the full vehicle weight (I installed my base plates). I would be more worried about the weld on the hook than the baseplate. My personal opinion YMMV.

Tire rack sells caliper paint kits. The paint is a 2 part epoxy paint. Or at least it was. Should hold up well on the hooks .

Nice mod! I've used a soft shackle in the safety eyelets (as shown in your picture next to the hook) without issue. I thought about welding a hook, but my welding skills are a bit sub-par. I actually asked Blue Ox if their baseplate could take the tug of a stuck pull, but of course, they said they "wouldn't recommend it". However, towing a toad thousands of miles through all kinds of weather including mud says something about the robustness of the connection to the vehicle.

This has given me a renewed interest in attempting a similar mod. Too bad "renewed interest" = "eh. I'll get to it later".

When my tow hook got hit by a brick that flew up from the highway, it ripped off the coating on the whole front. I used this to touch it up and it matched perfect. I just looked on ebay where I got it and it's not available from the seller anymore. Maybe you can find it elsewhere.

Any good auto body supply store will be able to color-scan pretty much anything, and can then custom mix you a gallon, quart, pint, or even a spray can of the stuff. A very hard paint is PPG Durathane. We use it on our farm equipment. Dirt and oil wash right off with water. So hard it won’t stick to itself after 4-5 days!

I was going to do that exact thing with mine, but then I realized the base plate safety chain loop is as strong or stronger than the tow hook.

Here is what we did. The paint color is not 100% match but good for now I think. I think ill look for the Mopar red and spray over the bed liner possibly. Looking for a bull bar next. thanks for all your suggestions.
