Continental ProContact TX tires have been chosen as standard for the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited Edition. Size will be 255/55 R 18 for FWD models and 255/60 R 18 for 4x4 models.

Continental says this about their tire: The ProContact TX is a touring performance, all-season tire with a low density undertread compound that ensures impacts and road vibrations are absorbed

I dont know about y'all but those will be swapped ASAP for some Goodyear MT/R's.

maybe this should be in the tires section.

someone should make a thread outlining the tires available on each model.

I remember Steve telling me there are two options. One more aimed at off-roading and one is an all season.

I believe all cherokees under the trailhawk will be rolling on the Continentals. I know the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk comes with Goodyear Silent Armours so that could stay consistent with the Cherokee Trailhawk

And theres these beasts from the Cherokee Moab Concepts, but those are Mickeys

There's a whole tire thread floating on the board somewhere that lists what each model gets.

Edit: Here's the thread - it didn't get moved to the Tires section (probably missed):

I like the day glow orange but that would be a ticket magnet. Good visibility off road though!

After having MTR Kevlars on my DD Wrangler I will not put them on my CH. Too noisy and the ride is not great. I would probably go with the Duratec or the new Kevlar AT from Good Year.

The pictures are of the GRAND Cherokee Trailhawk concept Jeep took to MOAB last spring.

We're aware, I mentioned it when i posted the picks of the GRAND CHEROKEE. Considering we have a Grand Cherokee to look at and no Cherokees yet I was using the GC Trailhawk to speculate on what tires the CHEROKEE Trailhawk will be getting....

Cherokees will have Firestone Destination LE for Sport and Latitude models, limiteds can have the Continentals, and Trailhawks will have Firestone Destination AT.
Nto sure about the firestone destination LE. I have heard cases where they only last a short period of time compared to the other ones. possibly on 4-5000 miles and they get down to the wear bars. The ATs would be better but might be a little noisy on the road.

It doesn't really matter what they come with I ALWAYS swap the OEM tires after purchase, they are typically the junk of junk.

My dad has Goodyear Silent Armours on his Ranger and he can't stop raving about how good they are. It's true the tread is fantastic for an all season tire, but it is winter rated which is nice. I remember one time last winter to show me how good they were in light snow/slushy conditions he pinned it from a stop sign and SQWAKED them, in snow...

They're pretty quiet as well, I was considering the MT/Rs but its true they are very chunky and loud.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was right about them being phenomenal.

yeah for those you can already tell they would be kind of loud because of the sipes and grooves. the more space the more room for sound travel. But it can be solved with some pink floyd at a higher volume.

AH yes man, thats the age old solution to any unwanted automotive noise :D:D although if you really want the stinging shivers I recommend anything Peter Green cranked to the max. Just make sure you can drive your Cherokee with your knees becasue air guitar is mandatory ;)

But as for the tires they are phenomenal and really quiet, I borrowed his truck a couple weeks back for a quick jaunt up to the cottage with some stuff to throw in storage and they were very quiet on the highway, great in the rain too. I think the Silent Armours are a good middle of the road tire for the Cherokee, a real step up from OEM junk and better behaved then full MT/Rs

How fast have you guys gone with them? I like knowing these are quiet, I hate heavy and loud winter tires, especially when you're on the highway. Not only can you hear them but you can feel what the weight is doing to your car, holding it back from going faster.

How fast, i got em up to 85-90 mph on the highway and still whisper quiet, what beauty about the Silent Armours is they're winter rated all seasons, so you dont have to switch to a full winter. However the cheapest full winter tire will always be better than the top of the line Winter rated all season. But with the cherokees 4x4 system, there should be no problems, especially if you opt for the lo gears
