Hey Guys,

just picked up my 2016 Trailhawk with the 3.2 on Friday, noticed when I laid on the gas the light came on for a second then went off, no other issues, it happened twice now and only when i floored it to get across traffic, anyone else seen this? only put on about 600 km since I've picked it up and the jeeps at 25k now, all the other searches I've found about this light talk about the jeeps running poorly after for bit or have the high rev throttle sticking problems,

Thanks

you can still do speed
if you press on gas lightly first engaging 1-2 gears(2-3 seconds) and THEN get 3-4 it goes real quick

This is not an adequate reason.

If the light is coming on for the OP, and they can reproduce it on command - they should take their Cherokee to a dealer.

I know it's not a sports car... still stepping on the gas shouldn't trip warning lights and the check engine light is on now, going to the dealership in the morning, came on after passing a tractor trailer last night wasn't floored either,

You're right, no warning lights should come on simply by accelerating. A vehicle doesn't have to be a 700 horsepower speed machine to be able to accelerate within its own limits. Anyone who suggests otherwise is severely misinformed. What you're experiencing is definitely not normal. I push the throttle hard, often, and after 15,000 miles across two different Cherokees, I've never once experienced any kind of throttle warning.

I've owned my KL since brand new and never had that happen. You might want to see if the dealer can pull any codes.

Had the same thing happen to me last night....service electronic throttle warning light and engine light came on.... throttle light stayed on for a few seconds....engine light stayed on even this morning for a couple of hours. Now its not showing...but I've been having trouble cranking the engine...3 or 4 times to start...for a couple of months when it's cold outside if the Jeep has been sitting for 5+ hours....had the thermostat replaced 2 months ago....problems starting ever since..

Hi there Angelo and welcome to JCC
Couild you give us some details on your Cherokee, please ? Model year, trim, mileage, engine (though it sounds like you have the 2.4L). Thanks.
From your brief description there, a good guess would be that your battery is dying. Answering the questions above will help us tune in on the problem better though.
