The guys at the Fast Lane Car take the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk out off the road to test if it lives up to it's "trail rated" label.

The Trailhawk far out performers its competitors the CR-V or Explorer as far as its off-road capabilities are concerned. You get to see the Cherokee trailing a Wrangler during the video too, which shows that it can keep up with some of the best off-roading vehicles.

The Cherokee's off-road capability comes from its 8.7 inch ground clearance, Jeep Active Drive 4x4 system with locking differential, and there are steel skid-plates protecting the underbody. There are Firestone Destination A/T tires with somewhat aggressive tread mounted on 17 inch rims too.To top it all off there are bright red tow hooks in case you get stuck.

Check out the video to see the Trailhawk go on an adventure.

My only issue is with the guys comment that he would rather do it in the Wrangler. I agree that the wrangler is the better off-road car, but 98% of my driving is on road. The Wrangler just isn't a good car on the road. I liked the look the other guy gives him

My vanity plates are my Amature Radio Call sign. In Texas it costs $1 over the normal registartion fees for the Amature Radio Plates. And I can use the same plate on up to 5 vehicles.

I wonder how much a custom Weasel badge would be to replace the Cherokee badge?

It makes sense that the Wrangler is a better off road vehicle. Unlike the Cherokee, Jeep isn't building the Wrangler to cart around a whole family. The Wrangler is meant for people who don't really have families yet, and who just drive around in California with all the doors taken off of the car. It has a place and time, but the Cherokee is definitely a more practical vehicle.

I agree. He just acted like there was no reason to buy the Cherokee if you want to go off-road. I would like to go off-road occasionally, but I'm not willing to sacrifice on-road capability for the once or twice (if I'm lucky) a month I get to go out. I wasn't bashing the Wrangler, I thought really hard about getting one. In the end I just can't justify a dedicated off-roader for my daily driver. Now if I was looking for a toy to play with on the weekend, I can't think of something I would rather have.
