Recently took our KL down to Canyonlands National Park. Here are a couple of pictures from the adventure.

Visiting Utah

Loved the pics. We're traveling to Utah this summer from Florida with our KL with Active Drive II. Are the trails that you traveled well marked and well mapped. Would love to experience the same scenery.

Indeed. All trails are well marked. A "Trails Illustrated" map is also a good companion. The National Park's Canyonland's map is also a good guide.
Really, the trails are well marked and it's hard to get lost (or off course).

Sure wish the rock rails were/had been a factory option....kind of leery to try anything tougher than bad forest service roads -- can't afford to tear up body work.....

I have the RRO rock rails. They have been well worth the cost.

Great pics! So the wife and I are taking the TH to Moab in a few weeks and are considering a few of the "easy trails" for some nice views. What are your thoughts on Potash Road to Shafer Pass/trail without rock rails?

Very, very doable. Climbing up off of the shoreline of the Colorado River there are a few minor rough spots, but nothing to be concerned about. Just a couple of washboard-like bumps. The TH will handle it "blindfolded."
There are a couple of "shelf" sections that if you are fearful of heights, you will want to keep your eyes on the road, as they say, and don't let them wander. But again, nothing too bad as far as the road itself goes. Along this elevated section are some fantastic views of the Colorado River.
You will not need rock rails for the road section you describe. And, you may not even need 4Lo necessarily....just saying. Its not a bad section; but extremely scenic.
Also, the climb up the Shafer Trail is a good climb. You will be gaining several hundred feet. But it is not bad...just avoid any knuckle heads trying to bring a motorhome down it as you go up (happened to me once )

@taatmk, thanks for the info! This is our first trip to Moab, and while we have done a considerable amount of off roading before, it has always been in more modified vehicles. Really looking forward to a trip like this in the comfort of the Cherokee!

Just did Potash two week ago and you will have no problem at all. Potash has some of the best view of the Colorado river anywhere.

We also enjoyed Onion Creek Rd to Fisher Valley. it has about 20 creek crossing of Onion Creek. This is an out and back road. There is a road from there that you can take up to the southern rim and down through Castle Valley that is a little more challenging but doable without sliders. Let me know if you are interested in the round trip that we did and I will lay it out for you.

Onion Creek is a very nice route, taking you through about 35 creek crossings (yes we counted them!). You will get your Cherokee muddy for sure.
Its an out and back trip, unless you want to tackle the very difficult Rose Garden Hill climb. Very difficult.
