My wife was behind a truck, and something flew off and busted
one of her grill inserts. I thought no problem, call Jeep and order
a new one. Well Jeep doesn't sell them individually, they told me
I had to buy the whole set for about $400! They are numbered
1-7 starting from the passenger side. My wife needed #6 and
I could only find it on Ebay. Cost was $25, so not too bad...
Other than a small scratch on top of the hood, #6 took the hit...
So it sounds like they all have a little different curve to fit the hood?

Bummer!!! Good time to upgrade to black ones??? Just yesterday I hit a seagull at like 80, luckily he squared the center of the bumper, so no damage. I think he would have went right through the lower grill...馃槑

I've seen that each slot is different part, esp. the end ones. Not sure if they are physically different, possibly with specific mounting tabs. Someone with a factory set they pulled (to change colors) may be able to verify.
edit - just pulled this pic, they do have different locating tabs and nut locations...

Yeah, I just popped the hood and they're numbered 1-7. So yeah, waiting on #6.
