Also, there was a thread recently by @erikrj , a Cherokee owner in the UAE who was putting in a second transmission cooler (for sand racing). He also did a video on programming key fobs with AlfaOBD. I noticeded in the background of his video he also replaced his uConnect with the T'EYES.
How many key fobs can you program?

Teyes, CC3, very nice upgrade, the only feature the unit does not control is the heated steering wheel :D :D but, you know I live in Abu Dhabi, duhhhhhh :p LOL

Guess your Jeep dealers don't sell a lot of the Cold Weather Packages or Engine Block Heaters, huh?! 😂

But I will say that it made my Jeep feel like a much nicer vehicle.
Completely. Upscales the look & feel of the Cherokee. Also, makes Google Maps or Waze usable (including things like Traffic and Speed Trap overlays). To me Nav on the uConnect was too old and unusable by today's standards.

Dude, I can’t imagine that there’s a better option out there for the money. Literally changed my Jeep in an amazing way!
Same here. It's the least expensive thing I think I've done to my Jeep overall 😂
For me though, the non functional heated steering wheel is a deal breaker. Sigh....

Do they ever issue firmware updates to the unit?

Losing any functions would be a deal breaker for me. I'd have to spend the extra money on the Kenwood setup...😎

Spending $350 vs $1000, I could figure out the steering wheel heater. Probably as simple as wiring up a switch and power supply. The Kenwoods start (for a good one) about $600 and go up. That, plus the $225 dash kit and then the module to keep factory features…. Just put it out of range for what it did. My brother went that route on his F250. Sounds good, but he dropped over $1000 and my $350 T’Eyes looks better and sounds as good or better.

I originally priced it out. To get a 10.2" Kenwood (or any other brand for that matter) was just too much for my pocket. I couldn't justify spending $1300 for the Kenwood plus $300 for the iDataLink Maestro and cables etc. It would run at least $1,600 just to approach what I got in the T'EYES for $300 and since the Kenwood isn't native Android, I'd still be stuck tethering my phone via. Android Auto/Carplay just to use apps like Waze, Google Maps, YouTube or my OBD apps etc. I like my heated wheel but not enough to spend an extra $1,300  I'm cheap! LoL!

  • Yes, they issues firmware updates (I think the last was in December)
  • I don't think the heated wheel issue is T'EYES-specific or will have a unique fix. I noticed that even the other replacement head units sold for the Cherokee on Amazon, AliExpress etc. all say the same thing about not supporting the heated steering wheel. Only the iDataLink does. I'm not sure why this is but one thing about the heated wheel that's unique from every other function in the Cherokee (AFAIK) is that it appears to involve two different CANBUS modules, the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) and Comfort Seat Wheel Module (CSWM). Other functions use one module per functional command. I'm thinking that iDataLink has done some sort of programming to work around this whereas the other replacement heads use off-the-shelf CANBUS decoders. (also hence why an iDataLink box alone is almost the same cost as an entire T'EYES or other Android head unit  )

One other option to save on costs of course would have been to accept a smaller screen size (e.g. 6 or 7") but as I already had the 8.4" uConnect, I didn't want to trade down. There's a major difference between the uConnect 8.4 and T'EYES 10.2" screen (not even to mention the 2k resolution crispness).

I just do what I did before I ever had a heated steering wheel - I wear gloves.

And, yes, they do have semi-regular firmware updates. FIRMWARES
Here in NY, we barely had a winter. I would have used the heated wheel two or three times but use the radio/NAV every time I drive.

I'm actually liking this global warming thing. Makes me want to go discharge some aerosol cans in the air. 😂

Can you post a side view pic of the completed install? I’m two steps away from ordering just want a complete visual.

Yeah, but once you go black you can never......I mean, once you experience the ecstasy of a heated steering wheel you can't go back to the primitive, cave man like process of wearing gloves. But, maybe that is just me. ;)

I do not. All my controls are the standard manual type. I sent them a photo, and they said it would work just fine. Won’t be losing, but gaining functionality.

Here’s the factory setup I have now.

sounds fine, but I’d like the functionality of CarPlay, maps, etc.
I'm currently in the process of replacing my identical head unit + frame. Did you end up buying a hazard button panel to patch the opening in the new frame that came with the head unit? I'm trying to figure out how to close the opening without having two hazard buttons.

yes, I did. Didn’t hook it up to anything, but sanded it and painted it black. May put some fake labels on the buttons for fun. Kind of an expensive fix, but wanted it to look more “factory.”

Thanks. That was what I was planning on doing. I found the part number for anyone else with the same setup: 68156949AC
