But I will say that there is a setting on there that allows you to set the time of day you want it to dim. Have not noticed it being all that bright at night.

Also, using Apple CarPlay is fantastic with this unit. Maps mirror the phone, so you get the dark mode easily, depending on the time of day.
yes I see this now... thanks!

Hey @NYC_TrailHawk , so, I did some Googl'ing and it says on the internet that Android Tablet does not support Dark Mode yet. Just Android phone. So, if you use your T'EYES CC3 (or any Android head unit) in AndroidAuto mode, you would get the Dark Mode since it's just mirroring the Android on your phone which (assuming you've got a modern Android 10 or higher), has.

However, since the CC3 or any other Android head is full-fledged Android itself, you're probably not mirroring your phone through Android Auto (or at least I don't). Until Google adds this feature, here's things that T'EYES added and what's in the current Google Maps for Tablets for brightness. I haven't used any of these personally (I and if I'm driving at night on a really dark road, I use the physical "Screen Off" button same as I did in the same situation with the old uConnect). The physical "Screen Off" button still works (and you will still hear the audio NAV if using it).

1. Physical Screen off (works and is supported with the CC3 2K)

2. I found this in my Google Maps this morning. Not sure what difference it will make. Am going to try it.

3. On the CC3 2K, make sure you set the "Brightness Night" to wherever you prefer it.

4. Also, there's a brightness control when you drag down from the top of the screen two times.

5. Also, the CC3 2K is a full Android Operating System with the ability to download from the Google Play Store. I checked and the version of Google Maps on my CC3 2K was (c) 2020. Yikes. I went to the Play Store and downloaded the latest May 10, 2023 release. See second photo below after Updating. Note, check back periodically to get the latest version. At some point Google will add Night Mode to Google Maps for Tablets. Waze has it I think so Google will have to add it to stay in the game.

I gotta say this HU is really great.

Thanks for the responce... yes all three settings are set the way the image you post shows, including the CANBUS.
did not find the "car setting menu" anywhere... should be in Factory settings right?
ill check again this morning with fresh Eyes.
BTW anyone know how to put GMaps into dark mode?
Okay, The factory reset and firmware update seems to have done the trick, everything looks good now except the heated stearing wheel :)
one complaint so far is the damn brightnees of the screen at night. even with the the brightness turn all the way down and backlight turned off its still very bright at night to me.
anyone know if darkmode function is available/functiong under Gmaps? i couldnt find it.

Hey @NYC_TrailHawk ,

  • Did you set the CANBUS settings (see my post #47 above). My Cherokee is a 2014 TH as well so it is compatible, generally it's the CANBUS screens. Please confirm what screens you can/cannot see.

  • Have you accessed the Factory Menu Options? (password is: 168)

  • Also, all three of the settings in #2 below set?
