Awesome job Steve!
Man, grateful for your help. Still have to figure out the steering wheel controls and Apple CarPlay, but I got it sounding great after some adjustments.Awesome job Steve!
For the volume, I didn't have to do anything if I recall. (I didn't even bother with the Voice Response (VR) controls that manage the phone, I never used it anyway) but there's a page that allows mapping of the steering wheel controls. If you find that a default mapping change needs to be done, please post what you did in this thread later in case someone else can benefit. Thanks!!Man, grateful for your help. Still have to figure out the steering wheel controls and Apple CarPlay, but I got it sounding great after some adjustments.
And ps: I have an Android so don't know specifically how to make the CarPlay work (the CC3 DOES fully support both CarPlay and Android Auto).Man, grateful for your help. Still have to figure out the steering wheel controls and Apple CarPlay, but I got it sounding great after some adjustments.
what was the deal w/ the microphone? or did you connect to the hem microphone. sorry if you already mentioned itOkay, finally got the steering wheel controls figured out. Wanted to make sure I had it all wired right, so I took the unit out and double checked everything. Everything was correct.
I was able to re-use the factory mic, which is great. The unit came with what looked like a high quality mic. However, with the included kit, I was able to retain all factory stuff… backup camera, mic, steering wheel controls, etc. I actually find myself looking at the camera now, as before it was way too small to be useful.what was the deal w/ the microphone? or did you connect to the hem microphone. sorry if you already mentioned it
Awesome! Was the issue with setting the CANBUS setting from the screen below? If so, did you select the options shown in the photo or other?Okay, finally got the steering wheel controls figured out. Wanted to make sure I had it all wired right, so I took the unit out and double checked everything. Everything was correct.
Then watched a few YouTube videos to troubleshoot. Decided to mess with the CANBUS settings. They were all set to “null” settings. I walked through each one, looking for a Jeep mode. Found one, didn’t work. Found another, and viola… it’s all now working. That was a big relief, as I use the steering wheel controls a lot.
Really, the last thing on my list is figuring out how to use Apple CarPlay. There is an app that I can connect to, but so far it has not fully connected and worked with my phone. Gave up for today. If anyone has any insight, I’ll all ears!
Same here, I didn't need to hook up any additional microphone. It all worked out of the box.I was able to re-use the factory mic, which is great. fwiw - my last after market radio had the choice as well. I ended up using the phone to play movies so I always had the phone pugged in & wireless wasn't necessary. but I guess I did use wireless occasionally, so it is good to have the choiceAlso figured out the Apple CarPlay, which can be wired or wireless. Wireless part is working flawlessly.
No iDatalink needed with the T'EYES CC3 but note, like all non-iDatalink head units, you loose the heated steering wheel.cool more questions, if you don't mind, because I am gaining interest
sounds like you just swapped the head unit
no need to install an "iDatalink Maestro box" like I did (not me personally) in post #6 here

also just to confirm, because I also have the little radio w/ the storage tray. when you replaced the faceplate, the new faceplate still has the storage tray? that's really surprising to me. but if so that's really cool
Super easy [install]. Also, this is your head unit (inside your car). You can replace anywhere. It's not like working on your engine, powertrain etc. where a landlord or super is going to hassle you. Total time working on the install should be <1hr.can you please share a pic on the driver side vent from the driver's point of view? I'm curious about any interference
I saw Gary Kline's thread about his but it seemed above my ability. but for some reason, this thread makes it look doable in my parking space. unless I'm missing something
when I had someone replace my hem head unit, there was a "software" update & "flash" based on my VIN, I think, which I'm not hearing in this thread. I wonder if that customization is being handled by these other settings you guys are discussing?
good news/bad news, my sport doesn't have that. thank youNo iDatalink needed with the T'EYES CC3 but note, like all non-iDatalink head units, you loose the heated steering wheel.
oh, hmmm ... thank you. so that's an empty hole? & if he put something in there It would just fall back into the dash?Super easy [install]. Also, this is your head unit (inside your car). Also, Steve will answer this directly but he's got a storage tray molded into the center trim so he's going to look for a blank faceplate or even just get the basic bezel with hazard and hook his hazards up to that (and could wire in parallel if one wanted to). Alternate is to fashion some sort of bezel and screw it on from the back (using the already existing screw holes).

But you win with your HVAC's manual knobs vs the dual-zone HVAC's touch-screen controls.good news/bad news, my sport doesn't have that. thank you
Funny you mentioned that. That's what I was going to reply saying but everyone who potentially reads this thread comes with a different skill level. Fashioning plastic takes patience and a steady hand to make the lines look clean and OEM. I was going to suggest an option to just grab one of those old 5.25 fdd drive covers (you know, the ones from the original PC dries) and cutting it to size but yes, you'd need to be good with a hot knife/Dremel to do it aesthetically. One could also just take a blank panel like this that tape of over the back. It would be slightly recessed but do the same.oh, hmmm ... thank you. so that's an empty hole? & if he put something in there It would just fall back into the dash?
wonder if he can use a hot knife & cut the pocket off the original, then glue it to the back of the new faceplate. probably just a bad fix, but just crossed my mind. or even painted card board, but the pocket is pretty handy
