SRT Cherokee Ideas

this is the place for wild eyed speculation about a Cherokee SRT. As far as i know there has been neither confirmation or denial of such a Cherokee...

For starters Would a cherokee SRT be forced induction or N/A. If they go the forced route we could see the Cherokee with some kind of 6 TT setup, but i dont think Chrysler does turbos... So thats onto the next idea, stuffing a gigantic V8 in there, but that causes its own problems because of the Cherokees FWD bias, Theres no way a V8 is fitting under that hood sideways...

What about suspension, would it be lowered? how much, upgraded components?

Chrysler has done turbos in the past with very good success. I could see a turbo tiger shark. I dont know if there is enough room under the hood for a turbo 3.2 v-6.
The Dart is available with a turbo. Its lower displacement, so it puts out the same horsepower, but more torque.
My guess is that it will sport a tuebo 6 cylinder, chance are they will porbably invest more in to the lower displacements rather than the V8.
yea realistically a turbo v6.
can they even fit a v8? maybe.
SRT's Typically come with the same number of cylinders, just usually turboed. Its a bit of a small V6 for it, but I'd love to see superchargers trickle down to some of the less expensive brands.

a small V8 would be possible, something under 5.0 liters, if they can keep it in the 4.0 range with some type of forced induction that will be wicked.

but a boosted V6 is more likely

I dont know if an 8 would work just becasue it needs to be mounted transversely becasue of Cherokees FWD bias... SC could work but it looks turbos are going to become the it thing.

even ford is abandoning the SC for the next gen GT500 (GT350 w.e)

What do you guys think goes down suspension wise and visually? I'd actually really love to see a Cherokee SRT with the center exhaust like the SRT GC used to have, some low pros perhaps and let it lose an inch of clearance...

A small boosted v8 would be nice... :dodgy:

But would you want to pay for the fill up everytime?
A turbocharged V6 will probably yield better mileage than a V8.
Most likely, same horsepower different power band but uses less gas :)

The Chrysler 300 SRT, Dodge Challenger SRT, Dodge Charger SRT, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, and SRT Viper all disagree with you :D

There are rumors of Turbo 4's and 6's in development though.

Yeah there was even the Neon SRT-4 back in the day that had a boosted 4-cylinder that scared the S*** out of any modified civic it passed by.

Just about anything SRT is a winner :D

Im not sure what you mean, all those carts are available with a V8 without being SRT. Except the Viper, its a V10, but there is no non SRT Viper.

I got you now, I shouldn't have said usually turboed. In the smaller displacement engines they have done turbo's, I meant they usually don't up the cylinders from what the regular version have at least as an option. I doubt they would try to shoehorn a V8 into the Cherokee. Even the SRT6 Crossfire still had a V6 (which was Supercharged, but it was an re-used AMG setup.) I'd still love to see Chrysler throw a supercharger on more of their cars.

CHEROKEE SRT TO BE RWD ONLY

Its possible. SRT model RWD only? SRT isn't meant for off-roading anyways

More for doing burnouts in a parking lot.

I know would be sweet right... problem is the Cherokees chassis was borrowed from the dart, borrowed from FIAT. so its a FWD platform, it would cost way too much to re-engineer the chassis to RWD bias. And if they were going to do that Jeep would of done it for the whole Cherokee line not just a special edition SRT.

Ah well, lets keep dreaming...

It will, probably more instant power in the low RPM range which with daily driver cars will mean a lot, since you'll have a fun car for local roads going the speed limit
