I recently bought a new jeep cherokee limited and noticed a squealing noise when i switch on the A/C and this happens like 7 in ten times. There is also a foul smell sometimes when i turn on the A/C.

at the first oil change they pass out an ad for the HVAC cleaner there are other comments that the smell etc can be eradicated by running the heat on high for a few minutes to dry out accumulated water hidden in the HVAC ducting....
The squealing sounds like a loose belt but a trip to the tech is in order.

I had mine in to the dealer yesterday with the same thing
They couldn't reproduce it so they couldn't fix it
