In 2016, I picked up a 2014 Latitude 3.2 for a very good price, because it had been stolen and recovered. During the robbery, the thieves cut the cable that connects the computer to the GPS antenna (just above the headliner on the passenger side). I covered the exposed wires and repaired the headliner, but never connected them. Is there any real reason why I should go to the trouble of fixing it right? FCA quoted me a price of $1,500 for a new headliner with the cable built in, but is there any real reason to fix it?

If you want gps navigation functions than yes or want to use the uconnect 911 and vehicle locator features then yes it would be needed as well. Otherwise leaving it disconnected doesn't harm anything.
