Hi, new to the forum.
1. We have a 15 trailhawk. Has a leak that looks like oil. Seems to be coming from the bottom of the hp9. Maybe the front case half seal. Herd of other leaks like the front cover and a selinoide seal. But those areas are dry of fluid. Has anyone else see something similar?
2. What is the fluid in the trany. Haven't seen one with this color of fluid before. Rebuilt many autos and all have had a red fluid.(mercron 5, atf, detxtron.) This is new and it intreagues me. Smells like engine oil but is not.
3. Dose anyone know if i can run oil dye in the hp9?
Thanks

Yes you can use a dye, uses MOPAR ZF 8&9 ATF. If the leak is "serious" and the dealer cant locate then cut you loose sounds unusual. Fluid/capacity information can be found in your User Manual and Owners Manual.

What is the "hp9"?? Engine oil looks like what is on the oil dipstick. Coolant looks like what is in the overflow tank. Washer fluid looks like what is in the bottle. Anything else must be ATF, don't have any idea what color it is. Engine oil could leak around the cover for the filter if it was not screwed on correctly of if the "O" ring is missing or in the wrong place. There is an engine oil cooler someplace but I don't know where it is. Try to post some pictures or a better description of where the oil is visible. Does the oil leak when the engine is off or only when it is running?

You forgot brake fluid and A/C lubricant.

Oil leaks need to be resolved by the dealer promply.
* Depending on your vehicle if you have a engine oil cooler it could be leaking at the tube connections if loose. The oil is under pressure.
* Oil filter O ring can be an issue if not installed properly.

What ever is leaking get it to the dealer. Your oil you can check.
The Transmission is sealed thus no easy way to check with out the kit the dealer has. That would be real bad to run dry.
You do have a warranty. Get it in and let them solve it.
Good Luck:smile:

ZF trans oil is traditionally clear or gold in color. The oil that recently came out of my trans cooler was definitely a clear or very lightly tinted grey/green. It could easily be mistaken for engine oil. The easiest way is to just smell it. ATF has a very distinct mineral oil smell. Engine oil smells like coal/carbon. Ford and GM intentionally dye trans oil red so you don't accidentally put it in your engine, for example. ZF assumes you've passed the fourth grade and won't do that, because you can read the bottle.

What about power steering fluid? Does the rack and pinion steering rack have fluid lubricant?
All KL's are EPS.

all 3.2L have a water to oil cooler that sits in the V of the engine on the passenger side. They are known to fracture and break causing massive oil leaks on the 3.6L in the wranglers and various other models of late, the 3.2L uses the exact same P/N and thus is possibly susceptible to the failure. It's a completely self-contained unit and does not have any connection hoses however.

Fluid/capacity information can be found in your User Manual and Owners Manual.
Since the 948TE ie ''HP9'' is a sealed trans and only an 'authorized Chrysler dealer can check or fill' I'm almost positive it's not in the manual.

It's not A/C lubricant. You'd be talking about a non-operating A/C system for it to be enough that there's accumulation at the bottom of the trans, I'd seriously doubt any amount of it would make it down that far even with catastrophic failure. There's only about 8-9oz in the whole system, and half of that sits in the compressor.
